12-Year-Old Girl Shocks World With Perfect IQ Score

Parents of Lydia Sebastian have some serious bragging rights to post on Facebook. Their 12-year-old daughter earned the highest IQ score on a British Mensa test that makes her smarter than Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking.

Lydia scored a 162 on Mensa's Cattell III B test that helps measures intelligence (Albert and Stephen both earned 160). While the thought of taking such a test might make the average person want to bury his or her head in the sand, this 12-year-old was desperate to try.

It's pretty amazing — no, freaking awesome! — such a young girl got a perfect IQ score. Can you imagine going into your sophomore year (Lydia attends Colchester County High School for Girls in the United Kingdom) knowing you're in the top one percentile of mental aptitude in the world? No pressure or super high expectations on that book report!

Want to know something even crazier? Lydia isn't the only 12-year-old girl who scored a 162 on the Cattell III B test. Just last month, Nicole Barr (also from the U.K.) popped her collar with a perfect IQ score. This makes me wonder if there's something in the water across the pond, or if brainiacs are just no big deal.

Tests aren't everything, considering some (myself included) aren't great test takers. My SAT scores were a joke — and I had a personal tutor. That didn't stop my parents from celebrating my personal milestones and achievements. Hopefully Lydia can enjoy her accomplishment without anyone knocking on her door trying to pick her brain (literally), or asking for a list of ways to save the world. Remember, she's still a kid.
