Woman’s Post About the Days Motherhood “Beats the Sh*t Out of You” Is So Spot-On It Hurts

There are many sides of motherhood, and one perfect day or horrific afternoon doesn't define your entire experience. However, Laura Mazza understands just how lonely those bad moments can feel and wants moms to realize that they aren't alone — no matter how unbearable things seem.

"I've been the mom whose card declined at the checkout, and had to embarrassingly put shopping back with a line full of people. But I survived it," Laura wrote on her Facebook page, Mum on the Run. "I've been the mum whose child pushed another child where all eyes were on me like I was a disgusting human being. But I survived it."

From being the mom who resorted to eating junk food in her car because she needed a minute to also being the parent sitting in her doctor's office prepared to hear that she's "failed" and needs antidepressants, this mom of two has pulled through. She might not have thought she'd survive when those she loved most knocked her down or when she felt like she had nothing left as a person to give, but she didn't stop trying and doesn't want you to either. "I've been the mom who's sobbed heavily, who's yelled, who felt like quitting, and closed herself in the bathroom with her hand on her chest feeling like the world is going to end," she wrote. "But I f*cking survived."

Laura knows that she isn't a superhero and refuses to pretend to be. She wants people to understand that even in your darkest days, you can keep going because quitting isn't an option. "Days I judged myself against those perfect mothers who had their sh*t together, the ones on Facebook or the model children on Instagram, wishing to be like them. To be perfect like them," she wrote. "But I picked myself up. I did it because my family is worth it, because I am worth it."

During those "bad, sh*tty, moments," Laura hopes that you remember that awful moments don't define terrible moms — they build amazing ones. "So on days you want to quit, don't, on days where motherhood beats the sh*t out of you, don't, on days where you feel like the worst mother in the world even though you are not even close, don't … because I promise you, you WILL survive it."
