Picking out your unborn baby's name is the first of endless major decisions you make as a parent. Although the outcome of this choice will most likely stick with your child for the rest of his or her life, one mom is only months in and is already hating the name she went with (thanks in part to her own mother).
If you pick out your little one's name before giving birth, you often say it over and over again in your head. But this anonymous mom realized after having her little girl that how a name sounds in your head can be very different from how it sounds when you start saying it repeatedly out loud. "My daughter was born on Halloween (2016) and I named her Autumn. I really like the look of it and the sound of it in my head. Since using it as a name, it doesn't seem to work as well?" user AutumnName wrote on Mumsnet. "Whenever I say her name, I normally get a look and an 'Autumn? Like the season?' And it's really embarrassing."

The mom revealed that many of her friends and family didn't get it when she decided on the name and have had a hard time embracing it even after Autumn was born. "My mum actually makes jokes about it," she wrote. "She says: 'I can't wait to see my granddaughter who hasn't got a proper name' or she directly speaks to her and says: 'You might as well have been named Season.'"
If it was up to her mom, that baby would be named Matilda (or Matthew if she had been a boy), and the constant jabs are starting to get to her. "I often hear her say, 'You'd like to be a little Tilly wouldn't you?'" she commented. "I just don't know how to stop it, I've cried in front of her about it and she says she'll be crying many more tears when she goes to school. I love my mom, but I just don't know how to get past this."

Since so many people "don't get" her baby's name, this new mom is considering changing it as her baby's first birthday quickly approaches, but other online users are divided on what the mom should do.
This mom isn't alone in doubting her choice after officially naming her baby — 11 percent of parents openly admit to regretting their decision. For those who experience this remorse, it's relatively easy to change a baby's name, and you can change it the same way an adult would. However, you might not want to do it solely based on pressure from Grandma or Grandpa!
