Pee-Proof Pajamas Exist & They Might Be the Cure for Toddler Bed Wetting

Any parent who has been through the hellish ordeal that is potty training knows how hard it can be — especially when your kid is in that stage where they're potty trained in the daytime but not at night. You can either use pull-ups and risk your kid feeling comfortable enough to just keep peeing in them at night, or you can go without and risk having to clean up a giant puddle of toddler pee at 3 a.m. Thanks to a truly genius dad, there's now a happy medium between those two options: Peejamas.

Peejamas don't look any different from regular kids PJs, but they actually have the ability to absorb pee.

They look soft and comfortable for little bodies and they come in three different colors and patterns that are really adorable. The only difference is that these PJs are made of an extremely absorbent, washable fabric that can catch and hold urine so it doesn't soak the bed.

The founder of Peejamas, Craig Hammond, says he came up with the idea for them while potty training his 2-year-old.

In a Kickstarter video explaining the product, Hammond says he didn't want his son to get used to peeing in a diaper or pull-up at night, but he was also really, really sick of waking up covered in pee. So he came up with a product that would allow kids to have their nighttime accidents with as little mess as possible and without setting back the potty training process.

According to the makers, Peejamas last up to 300 washes before they lose their absorbency.

We can already hear you getting exhausted at the prospect of more laundry, but it's a small price to pay when you consider the fact that, at about $35 a set, Peejamas are 66 percent cheaper than nighttime diapers and pull-ups over time.

In addition to making parents' lives a lot easier, these pajamas have the added benefit of being really good for the environment, too.

Called "more eco-friendly and affordable than diapers," Craig Hammond says Peejamas cut back on the amount of waste created by diapers. “Like plastic bottles, disposable diapers lead to billions of pounds of waste in landfills each year, so Peejamas help reduce that waste,” he told Parents. “If parents purchasing disposable diapers shifted to Peejamas, it would have a tremendous positive impact on our environment.”

Right now, Peejamas are only available through Hammond's Kickstarter campaign.

After months fundraising on Kickstarter, the company has raised over $65,000, totally blowing their initial goal of $14,000 out of the water. While an official release date hasn't been announced yet,  parents can still run over and pledge $45 to be some of the first to get a pair of Peejamas. The pajamas are available in sizes 2T – 7T, and will start shipping in July of this year.

Hopefully, it won't be long until Peejamas will be available for purchase nationwide.

These pajamas are cute, innovative, and they seem like an absolute lifesaver for potty training parents. As a mom with a toddler who's just about to begin potty training, I'm keeping my eyes glued to Peejamas' progress.
