The Internet is livid after a man on the Internet complained about his "lazy" pregnant wife. According to the dad-to-be, ever since his wife found out that she's expecting, she's completely lost interest in working or doing housework. Worst of all, she's even made major purchases for their child without his permission (gasp!). Now, the dad is online asking for the opinion of others, "Am I the complete d*ck here for saying that or what?" And let's just say, people aren't holding back.
The drama started when the soon-to-be dad noticed that his wife was acting differently now that she's pregnant.
Pregnancy takes a lot out of a woman, and once you're expecting your priorities might just change, especially when it comes to putting your health first. But we guess this man doesn't get that concept because he took to Reddit to complain that his pregnant wife was starting to get "lazy."
The darling husband explained in his post that both he and his wife are 32-year-old physicians who have very different workloads. "I work a lot (currently 55-60 hours a week on average) and am an attending physician. My wife is still finishing her fellowship training," he wrote. This means that typically his wife works about 30 hours a week in a clinic.
Although the soon-to-be parents are "very excited" about their upcoming child, "ever since we found out we were expecting, [my wife] has suddenly become very different," the man wrote. He explained that his wife now seems less interested in in being a doctor, not to mention other "lazy" pregnant-woman signs such as "she says she is tired all the time," she doesn't feel like doing housework, and wants to spend time with her friends. What a monster!
"She has suddenly become very different," he wrote. "She no longer helps out around the home. I have to do all the laundry, cooking, dishwashing, trash, bathroom cleaning because she says she is tired all the time. It’s not that she is physically confining herself at home because she is feeling fatigued, she is often still out and about either hanging out with her co-fellows and girlfriends or sits at home watching TV."
Things finally came to a head after his wife decided to splurge on a pricey baby stroller "without checking with me first." He wrote that he felt this was unfair because he makes much more money than she does and 'I’m the one shouldering 90 percent of that expense."
"Finally…I blew up at her yesterday when she didn’t go out to pick up some groceries when I asked her to prior to leaving for work," he wrote. "I yelled at her that being pregnant does not automatically make you disabled and unable to do anything."
Surprise, surprise, his wife did NOT like being told what she can or cannot purchase for their child and gave him the silent treatment to let him know it. "Am I the complete d*ck here for saying that or what?" he wondered.
Um, yeah, the Internet told him. You're acting like a d*ck.
You may make more of the money, one person commented, "but she's shouldering 100 percent of GROWING A NEW HUMAN IN HER BODY."
"You're the *sshole," the commenter added.
And another person was flabbergasted that the man wasn't "capable of taking care of your wife for the eight months she's pregnant."
"Being pregnant can basically turn you into a slug," someone else informed him.
But some people thought that the man had a point.
"Not the *sshole," someone commented, "if she's picking and choosing when she is 'so exhausted.'"
"It sounds to me like she wants to be a stay-at-home-mom with the added benefit of having a maid and a nanny," wrote someone else.
The man did make an amendment to his original post to *try* to defend himself.
He argued in the amendment that because of his work schedule, long commute, and the fact that he paid off "90 percent" of their student debt, he felt a little entitled to having his wife do all of the housework, work full time, and carry their baby to term.
Although he perhaps owes it to his wife to talk about his frustrations before assuming that she's on the same page.

Cut her some slack, for goodness' sake.
