Parents Are Testing Kids With ‘Get That Money Challenge’ & Not Everyone Is Laughing

It seems as if every week there is a new challenge that has the Internet all riled up, w.hether that be people eating Tide Pods or kids trying to eat food with the wrapper still intact. But now there's a new challenge that's blowing up online that has some people laughing and others are concerned kids are getting hurt. The "Get That Money Challenge" has parents promising their kids free rein over the credit cards IF they can catch the card with their forehead, and although many are cracking up over the resulting videos, not everyone is laughing over how it ends.

The challenge typically starts off the same way: Parents (or friends) promise kids they'll allow them to use their credit cards, but there's a catch.

As one dad showed in a video his brother posted to Twitter, he promised his son the use of his card if he can catch it before it hits the ground — no hands allowed.

"My brother said if my nephew catches his credit card with his head, he can buy whatever he wants," the caption explained, but instead the boy got a nasty bonk on the noggin.

And in another video, one woman offers her friend $100 to make the grab.

But unfortunately she isn't fast enough and hits her head against the wall.

Dad Kevin Grande, who posted one of the first videos, tells CafeMom that he made up the challenge and posted the video to Facebook. He adds that the video "took off from there and then came to Twitter," where other parents have started to join in on the fun.

Naturally, some people are loving the resulting videos of kids smashing their heads as a hysterical trend.

"Would have been awesome if he actually did it lol," one person wrote on Facebook.

"That's awesome but one of these kids are gonna catch that card eventually," added someone else.

"Your next Father's Day might suck! But that was funny! Thank you!" commented another person.

But not everyone is laughing -- some people find the concept dangerous and mean.

"Not one bit funny my lord this is r[i]dic[u]lous," someone wrote online.

"I don’t think it’s funny at all," another person commented.

"I hope Child Protective Services gets involved. Head injuries are nothing to laugh at," chimed in a third person.

If you really want to give the challenge a go, it's important to be careful and consider the risks of how it might go wrong.
