People Slam Parents for Having an ‘Insensitive’ Gender Reveal on World’s Tallest Building

After a recent gender reveal party sparked a fire that burned down 10,000 acres of El Dorado Ranch Park in San Bernadino County, California, many people are wondering if the trend has gone too far. Just don’t tell that to YouTubers Anas Marwah and Asala Maleh, who recently had the internet riled up for throwing a huge gender reveal stunt at the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, in Dubai.

The couple vlogs their life on their YouTube channel, the Anasala family.

Together Anas and Asala and their daughter Mila have more than 8.09 million subscribers and more than 23 million people tuned in for a very special video they released on September 8 — their gender reveal.

“We’ve been waiting for this day for two months now,” Ansala explains in the video in Arabic, the New York Post reported.

“We wanna do something special but also memorable so that the family will look back at it and see what we built and created,” her husband added.

We doubt anyone will forget their reveal — ever.

Taking to the Burj Khalifa, they invited family and friends to join them as they announced whether they were going to have a boy or a girl.

“Oh, my God, I have goosebumps,” Asala says in the video.

First, lights on the building count down from 10. Then an animated pink and blue design swirls up and down the building, which stands at nearly a whopping 3,000 feet, according to Yahoo! News.

Then, the magic happened. The entire building lit up in blue — it’s a boy!

The parents are thrilled. They shout and there are so, so many tears. And in a final gesture of goodwill, a message appeared on the building which read, “Congratulations Anasala Family.”

“Oh my god I can’t talk of how happy I am,” Asala shared.

The couple also announced that they were going to move to California, so there are more big changes for their family ahead.

Of course, they did share the video on the internet. So know everyone has to have an opinion.

“Dunno whether im happy or confused af to this,” one person wrote on Twitter.

“It’s time to reset the world,” someone else commented.

One twitter user who shared the video guessed the stunt must have cost the couple about $95,000, although he also speculated it might have been a promotional stunt from real estate company EMAAR.

“Unacceptable,” one commenter wrote when she saw the price tag. “This is disgusting behavior. $95k?! There are people starving wtf.”

Many other people were happy for the couple and their growing family.

“I am sorry but this video is actually beautiful,” one commenter wrote. “Everything was good about it and u don’t know crap about their family. They might be good people who donate money to charity all the time so stop judging people and let them be happy. Just cause u ain’t rich, doesn’t mean u can talk.”

“We need to find reasons to celebrate. Life is the best reason,” someone else wrote. “He's so happy. They have a girl and now a boy too. Sweet. I'm sure it would have been just as momentous as a firecracker.”

“It’s THEIR money. People need to stop telling people how to spend THEIR money. Doesn’t need to be justifiable to anyone else but them. WTF,” a third person wrote.

In a statement given to Insider, the couple’s management team said they “didn't pay any amount to any entity to make this happen” and “everything being said are rumors.”

In our opinion, as long as their gender reveal didn't harm anyone or cause mass land damage, we think we should call this stunt a win.
