Postpartum Nurse Warns Parents Against Buying $300 Car Seat on Amazon She Knew ‘Wasn’t Legit’

Car seat safety is incredibly important. New parents often spend months before their children are born going over the dozens of car seat options. Despite all of the knowledge that exists, it’s easy for parents to make the wrong choice. One nurse is trying to make sure a popular car seat she’s seen stays off parents’ lists.

The nurse shared a video on TikTok to highlight the problems that she’s seen with a particular car seat found on Amazon. Raising safety concerns, she was quick to steer parents in a safer direction.

The woman shared an important PSA.

@nurse.alexa ‼️PSA don’t but this car seat n Amazon‼️ if you’re a pp nurse, have you seen these at your hospital? Or have you purchased this yourself? #greenscreenvideo #carseatsafety #carseat #scammeralert #safetyalert #amazonscam #scammed ♬ original sound - Alexa | RN | girl mom ♡

TikTok user Nurse Alexa shared a video with her followers, urging them against a particular car seat she found concerning.

“If you or anyone you know is looking to buy an infant car seat anytime soon, do not buy this one off Amazon,” she warned. In her video, she shows a screenshot of the car seat/stroller combo.

The car seat in question is the Baby Stroller, Luxury Carriage with Large Basket, Gold Aluminum Frame, Anti-Shock Wheels (B-Pink(with Base)) by the brand wisesonle, currently retailing for $328 on Amazon.

She was noticing a worrying trend.

“I have seen about five of these car seats coming through the hospital I work at recently,” the nurse said, calling out the fact that she could immediately recognize that it “wasn’t legit.”

“The No. 1 red flag for this specific car seat was that there was no chest clip right here,” she highlights, pointing to where the safety harness is on the image.

The car seat is also missing another crucial safety feature.

The lack of a chest clip isn’t the only thing that worries the nurse; she points out that the car seat is missing another important feature: a five-point harness.

“There needs to be a five-point harness: Two straps coming down over the shoulders, one over each leg, and a strap through the middle,” she explains in the TikTok. “This specific model only had a three-point harness.”

Nurse Alexa made another shocking discovery.

She highlighted a few features that are only going to be noticeable once you purchase the car seat. First, it has no expiration or manufacture dates. New parents may not realize the significance of knowing these things to make sure they’re the most up-to-date when it comes to safety measures.

“There is literally a sticker on the side of this car seat that says it is for a baby doll,” the nurse says. But again, this isn’t something you’d notice until you purchase the car seat.

Many people were shocked that anyone would buy something for a baby they hadn't thoroughly researched.

“I literally spent like 5 months researching car seats😭 how do people just buy whatever when it’s something that could be life or death,” one person wrote.

“WHOS SPENDING $400 AND NOT READING REVIEWS AND/OR THE INFO,” another person commented.

“As a hospital CPST, I see this seat closer to 2-3 times a month. It’s scary and parents literally have no clue it’s not legal,” another medical professional chimed in.

“The way I would never trust a stroller or car seat off of Amazon. I have done so much research and comparing different brands and I’m not due till April,” an expectant mom wrote.
