Going through the mundane of life can make even the most thoughtful parent forget things, but a mom pregnant with her fifth baby is going viral for the truly sad way she spent her birthday morning after her husband completely forgot about it.
Haley Brooks, a TikTok user (@haleybrookshouse) and medical provider pregnant with her fifth baby, shared the video of her husband forgetting her birthday, and it quickly took off, reaching over 25 million views.
The video wasn’t just widely viewed, however. Instead, it garnered so many sympathetic and even outright angry comments over her husband’s completely thoughtless treatment of her that she had to shut commenting off.
The video shows the heavily pregnant mom alone after her husband disappeared in the morning, so she got breakfast for the kids, took a shower, and waited for him to come back.
Two hours later, the mom received her disappointing 'surprise.'
The “surprise” turned out to be her husband disappearing again — this time for two hours — and returning with one pizza, a 2-liter of Dr. Pepper (which the pregnant mom can’t drink), and a bag of chips she ‘had never heard of.’
Haley’s birthday ended with a heartbreaking video of her sitting alone at the table after feeding the kids, Dr. Pepper down her dress after it exploded when she opened it, her head in her hands.
“’Don’t fuss’ aka don’t bring it up because I have the emotional intelligence of a potato and don’t want to have to admit I suck and forgot your birthday,” pointed out a TikToker in the second video. “Girl, you’re already a single married mother. You don’t need that ‘man’.”
Other commenters were equal parts outraged and heartbroken on Haley’s behalf.
“If he won’t do this stuff for you and doesn’t want to- he never will!” wrote a concerned commenter. “Find someone who puts you first and actually cares. You’re getting far below the bare minimum.”
“This hurts my heart,” observed a commenter.
“This is sad 🙁 please leave him bro,” added another with a crying face emoji.
However, the story doesn't seem to end there, as Haley has recently posted videos saying that she 'got out' to show her daughter 'the example of what is ok to accept.'
While Haley has not outright commented on the exact status of her relationship, her videos have seemed to insinuate that she made a big life change and posted about “choosing herself.”
Comments flooded in expressing relief that Haley seems to have left the relationship after the birthday incident.
“You did it ????? omg yay so proud of you …” wrote one commenter.
“We will be ok,” Haley replied. “All a part of the journey to get where we need to be.”
