Mom’s Viral Video Sums Up Just How Hard It Is To Be a Single Mom Trying To Do It All Alone

Getting children dressed and ready to leave the house is no small feat. It takes planning, patience, creativity and the occasional calming tactic for both yourself and the children. In the wintertime, you have the additional tasks of bundling up in coats, hats, gloves, and scarves. It’s a lot. And when you’re doing it as a single mom, the tasks become even more arduous.

One single mom managed to get her toddler and infant dressed and out of the door. But just when she thought she was in the clear, things took a turn for the worse.

Danisha took her two children out just before a rare snowstorm hit Texas.

Danisha, a single mother of two in Dallas, recently shared a snapshot of her life on Instagram. In the security footage, we see her leave her apartment building with her two children – her baby in her arms and her toddler at her hip. As she begins to walk down the stairs to get to the parking lot, Danisha hits a patch of ice on a step, loses her footing, and plunges down the stairs feet first.

She protected both of her children.

Remarkably, she’s able to not only hold on to her baby but also keep her positioned on top of her body. So the little one felt all the bumps of the stairs but was completely fine. Danisha, on the other hand, not so much. After the fall, she hollers back up the stairs, telling her toddler not to move.

Danisha said she learned about black ice fast.

In the caption for the video on Instagram, Danisha wrote: “O out of 10 do not recommend! All I needed to do was grab my baby some milk from the store before the snow came!

-Send the chiropractor !

-Where’s the milk truck?

-Should’ve waited for my BOAZ!

-yes I learned about black ice

-yes I needed help back up!

-yes I told her to hold the rail

-yes my back is on fire

-yes the baby is okay

-no we have not drank milk since this day

-Yes you can send me gifts.”

Many people commended her.

Although the comments section could have been full of people laughing at this mama’s misfortune, people applauded her for protecting both of her children.

“Despite the pain and the fall…she still looked back up the stairs with one thing on her mind: her child’s safety,” one woman noted. “[That] is the purest display of a mother’s love and instinct… It’s a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience, and selflessness that moms carry every single day. They truly are superheroes, even when the world knocks them down–literally.”

People did send gifts.

People have been so inspired by this woman’s story, they wanted to give something to help her out. Danisha launched a GoFundMe account. She explained that she’s in the midst of healing and finishing school. She noted the donations and encouragement “would help me get back on my feet properly as I continue to be the best mother I can be for my kids.”

Thus far, people have donated $979 toward her $1,500 goal.
