The ‘Big Kiss’ Is the Best Way To Get Something Out From a Little One’s Nose – ASAP

Without fail, your toddler is going to find a way to get into trouble. But when things go from a little mischief to something that is potentially really dangerous, as a parent it’s important to know how to step in. Enter the "Big Kiss," a foolproof way to dislodge anything that gets stuck up your child’s nose — because we all know that sooner or later somethngs going to end up there.

The important life-saving procedure was recently shared by the tinyheartseducation Instagram page.

The account, which aims to empower parents and regularly shares important safety and first aid hacks and tips, revealed exactly what to do if kids find themselves with something stuck in their schnoz.

“We used to refer to this as the mother's kiss but I've decided to start referring to it as the Big Kiss as any trusted adult can do this one,” the post from February 25 states.

First things first. Block the nostril that doesn’t have anything stuck in it.

Then, “Place your mouth over their mouth and form a seal,” the post states. “Blow until you feel a resistance which causes the closure of the glottis.”

Next, “Give a sharp and short puff of air into the mouth which travels through the nasopharynx and hopefully pushes the cheeky object out.”

The page states that the method works about 60% of the time.

“Although there have been no reported cases, the main danger is aspiration, particularly in a little one who is not cooperative,” the post reads. “So if you can it's suggested to do it under medical supervision.”

The post even includes a video demonstration so parents at home can see exactly how to do it.

Most of the more than 7,600 commenters who liked the video thought the hack was brilliant.
