The TikTok Elf on the Shelf Hack That Will Make the Holiday Season so Much Easier for Moms

Having children in the house really heightens the magic of Christmastime. The innocence and wonder children experience during the holiday season is truly something to behold. So it’s no surprise that adults go out of their way to keep the lore of Santa Claus alive in their homes.

One of the most popular Christmas games to play with children is Elf on the Shelf. It’s a companion toy to the 2005 children’s book The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition, and all these years later, it's a Christmas requirement in many US households.

The Elf on a Shelf game expands on the lore of Santa Claus.

The idea of the elf is that he is a scout for Santa. Each day, the elf appears in a new location in the home where he or she watches to see if your child is being naughty or nice. And naturally, the elf reports back to Santa directly.

Not only is it a fun game for children that increases the mystery and mystique of Santa, but it also just might influence your child to behave well in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Millions of households play the game each holiday season.

The toy is wildly popular, with millions of families participating in the game, according to Very Well Family. But apparently, some TikTokers have noted a flaw in the elf’s design. When you’re attempting to hide him or her in various places, it can be difficult to do so because the elf's limbs aren’t all that easy to manipulate.

Thankfully, however, one mom is sharing her Elf on the Shelf hack.

Many people wondered why the elf wasn’t designed like this in the first place.

This mom, @becca.libra on TikTok, on TikTok, took four paper clips, unraveled them to make them straight, and inserted them into the seams of the elf’s arms and legs.

When you’re a parent trying to find new and creative places to hide this little one, bendable limbs certainly would come in handy. She was able to insert a paper clip into one of the elf's arms in less than a minute. The hack is so simple and easy that many viewers think the elf should have been created like this from the start.

“As expensive as those little dolls are, they should’ve came with wire already ,” one user wrote.

Others were super grateful for the tip. “omg thank you!! it's always such a struggle to set him up anywhere,” another person responded.

Another mom shared her own additional hack to make the elf easier to pose. “I also added velcro to his hands,” she explained.

The holidays really can bring out the best in people. Just look at everyone sharing their tips to help make Christmas a little more magical for the kids. We love to see it.
