Christmas is a time of wonder and magic for children. It’s a time when the fantastical and the natural merge. Anything could happen around this time of year. In that spirit, one little girl made a very large request in her letter to Santa this year.
Her mother decided to share the letter on TikTok, and its contents have struck a chord with millions of people who would love for this little girl’s wish to come true.
The little girl's wishes got more serious as the list continued.
Suzy Boliver shared that when she read her daughter’s Christmas list, it broke her heart. It contained the usual childhood requests: Squishmallows, an Apple Pencil and an iPhone.
But when she got to the end, the requests got a lot more real and tugged at Boliver’s heartstrings. The little girl asked for "more friends" and lastly, “less bullying to me.”
Suzy shared the letter because she believes we should be having this conversation.
Boliver shared the video on TikTok for a reason. In the caption she wrote, “I wasn’t going to post this, but you know what..this is being 8 yrs old in 2022. Maybe we should be talking about it.”
The video, which has been viewed 3.9 million times on TikTok, has inspired exactly the conversation Suzy was after.
People suggested a post office box so they could send the little girl some thoughtful gifts.
“We need to do something about bullying,” one user wrote. “We are taking way too long.”
“I’m a teacher,” another user wrote. “If this were my student I’d want to know. Please talk to her teacher.”
Another person suggested that mom set up a PO box so people from across the country can send the little girl postcards.
Many people wanted the mom to take the letter seriously.
There also were parents who shared similarly heartbreaking items from their child’s wishlist.
“My 9yo wrote this year ‘To be pretty,’ I have no words for this sadness,” one person wrote.
Although a handful of people tried to lighten the mood of this somber post by making jokes that didn’t really land, there were others who wanted to make sure mom didn’t gloss over the young girls words.
“…fully move her away from bullies no matter what. Too many lost little lives,” a teacher offered.
We can't imagine how heartbroken Suzy must have felt reading her sweet little girl's letter. We hope that she feels encouraged and even more motivated to uplift her daughter thanks to the support of so many on TikTok.
