Toddlers are notorious for having no filter and saying the most outrageous things. A mom from Toronto recently shared a hilarious video on TikTok of her toddler "spilling the tea" at day care. The mom, who goes by @vandenlife on TikTok, posted the video saying, “My sons daycare sent me this video.” If you’re a parent who's ever been embarrassed by the things your kids say, you’ll appreciate this. Her toddler told the day care worker, “There’s a period coming out of my mom's buddy.” If that wasn’t embarrassing enough, there was also mention of “hair” and “shaving” in the mortifying but comical video.
The mom's TikTok video has received more than 6 million views and over 11,000 comments from other parents and even teachers who are sharing the funny things kids say. Educators chimed in, saying “Your children spill all the tea.”

Parenting toddlers is fun because you never know what they're going to do next or say, and this video proves it.
As any parent of toddlers knows, they are often unpredictable and sometimes seem completely unhinged, which can either be adorable or frustrating. Whether it’s a meltdown over a show or snack or the untimely disclosure of personal information to a day care worker, it can be a real emotional roller coaster, as this TikTok mom knows well. The mom posted the video of her toddler with the caption, “Spilling allll the tea at daycare.”
Her son starts by saying, “There’s a period coming out of my mom's buddy. My mom doesn't have a buddy. It comes out of her bum.” The day care worker is heard saying, “Wow”, but the toddler hasn't begun to scratch the surface of his revelations.
“There’s hair and she has to shave her bum,” he said.
“Oh wow,” the day care worker replies.
“Yeah, she shaves it,” the toddler shares.
Childhood professionals recommend having open and honest conversations with your children about topics such as periods and bodies.
Although this video is funny and likely a little bit humiliating for the mom, it highlights an important topic that other parents, educators, and medical professionals applauded her for. Normalizing topics and conversations about things such as periods and bodies with your children is important.
When parents normalize these topics, they can help their children develop healthy feelings about their bodies and help them learn what is not OK, per Kids Health.
A doctor commented on the mom's TikTok, applauding her for being honest with her toddler even if that resulted in an uncomfortable situation with the day care. “Omg this is so funny, good job normalizing periods mom,” the person commented.
An educator also pointed out that the toddler’s comfort talking about these things was a good sign. “I'm a Preschool Teacher, we hear it all .I'm proud of him for being so natural with the body,” the person commented.
