Kentucky mom Felicia Gross allegedly made a shocking confession regarding the death of her son Jayden Spicer. Nearly a week before the 10-year-old’s body was found by police, Gross reported that he was missing. Despite appearing worried about the boy’s disappearance, she was allegedly using it as a front. Not only that, but her relatives were all working together to cover up the boy’s death. Now, horrifying details are emerging about what really happened, and family members are the ones sharing.
On August 18, 2025, Joshua Gross, husband of Felicia Gross, “was indicted for falsely reporting an accident, tampering with physical evidence, abuse of a corpse, and two counts of tampering with a witness,” WLKY reported.
According to the news outlet, the charges against the mom have been upgraded from manslaughter to murder. It is unclear why the change was made or what led to her husband also being charged. Both are set to be arraigned in September.

On August 13, the mother admitted that she gave her son sleeping pills before he died, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported. According to the arrest citation, the mom believed that he died from a medical emergency stemming from giving him the sleeping medication. Instead of calling for help, she put him in a plastic tote and buried him in the ground. Her confession led police to find his body buried in a wooded area.
The arrest citation also claims that Felicia Gross admitted to “coaching” two of Jayden’s siblings before they were interviewed by police, the Herald-Leader reported. In addition to the murder charge, she is also charged with abuse of corpse, tampering with evidence, and falsely reporting. The investigation is ongoing.
Jayden Spicer’s death has affected the community at large. Kentucky jailer Joel Gross put out a call on social media, asking other first responders to help him escort the boy’s body from the funeral home to the cemetery when the boy is laid to rest August 21.
“In the 25 years I’ve been doing this, this is probably one of the sadder ones that I’ve been involved in,” the man told WLKY.
Within 24 hours, he got responses from 15 surrounding counties. He’s expecting 50 units with flashing lights.
“I hope to see nothing blue and red as far as we can see, and I hope that we can take Jayden to his final resting place in a way that he would be proud,” Joel Gross shared, per WLKY.
