But on Monday, September 22, Kate revealed that she’s actually been seeing someone for over a year now. Kate told her followers that her partner “doesn’t really like to be on TikToks,” but they’ve been together “a little over a year, maybe 14 [or] 15 months.”
Going forward, fans might be able to catch glimpses of Kate’s new man on TikTok. “You perhaps will catch a peep of him here and there or once in a while going forward,” she said.
But sources claim Kate’s new man is not actually new.

A source told Page Six that Kate has actually known her current partner for years now. According to the source, Kate is dating Steve Neild, who previously worked as a bodyguard for her family. And in spite of Kate’s claims that she and her partner have been together for a little over a year, the source alleged that Kate and Steve “have been together for a long time now.”
These rumors are not exactly new, and some fans of the show thought Kate and Steve had already been dating for years now.
Jon took the rumors and ran with them.
On September 24, Jon took to Instagram to assert that Kate “ruined” their marriage. His evidence? A screenshot of the Page Six report about Kate allegedly dating her ex-bodyguard. “Guess who really ruined the marriage, read for yourself,” Jon wrote over a photo from the article. In the caption, Jon added, “Maybe when I speak people will listen now!!!”
Reactions to Jon’s post were extremely mixed, as some accused him of being “bitter” and urged him to move on, while others defended him. “Aren’t you getting married?” one critic questioned. “Why are you still talking about your ex 🤔” Another critic said, “Notice how she lives her life and doesn’t talk about you? You should try that.”
But some fans could understand Jon’s bitterness. “How could he NOT be bitter about the stolen time?” someone else wrote. “How could he NOT want to prove his point. This man was DRAGGED for years. Give him some grace.”
A fourth person added, “For everyone saying move on. A father has been alienated from his children. It might matter to them. Stop victim blaming.”
Collin Gosselin also commented on the rumors.
Reacting to the report via his Instagram Stories, Collin claimed that he knew about his mom’s alleged affair for years. “What really upsets me is that my mom had an affair with our bodyguard way back in 2009, and for years would share hotel rooms with him while we went on family vacations, while I was in a connected room!” Collin wrote, per the New York Post. “Now everyone thinks her being with him is some cute novel romance.”
Collin, who is estranged from his mom, also shed light on why his dad might seem “hung up” on the whole thing. “By the way, my dad received death threats and got shunned by the public for years for ‘having an affair’ and ‘leaving his kids,'” Collin wrote. “I hope she doesn’t try to play this one off. Just come forward and be truthful.”
Addressing the critics who have called Jon and Collin out for publicly criticizing Kate, he added, “Everyone says my dad and I are hung up on my mom. We are not. We have suffered the damage of a narcissist and cried together. So no we won’t just go and make TikToks and act reformed when we still feel pain from our past. I love you dad.”
