A Kentucky teacher is facing charges and could spend time in jail for an alleged inappropriate relationship with a student. Krystal Sims, a substitute teacher, allegedly attempted to initiate a sexual relationship with an underage male student. The two connected via the social media app Snapchat, with her allegedly asking him to meet and have sex. Unfortunately, that’s not all that seemingly went down. The student is also claiming he saw the woman naked.
On October 1, 2025, the Barren County Sheriff’s Office received information that 30-year-old Krystal Sims had “communicated with an underage male juvenile for the purpose of meeting to have sex,” WNKY reported.
An arrest citation states that the student spoke with deputies on October 2, telling them he met Sims when she was a substitute teacher in his class, WBKO reported. The student told deputies he sent Sims a friend request on Snapchat that she accepted. They began talking on August 22 via the app.
During that conversation, Sims and the boy allegedly discussed meeting in Cave City to have sex, he claimed.
The teen reportedly recorded the conversation he had with Sims, which he shared with deputies. In the conversation, a woman can be heard asking the boy if he was coming to meet her, the citation said. After talking, the phone call turned into a video call.
According to the teen, Sims had called him from the shower and her breast was exposed during the conversation. “I also learned there were others present when this call was made and they also stated they could see the above female’s breast in the call,” a detective wrote in the citation as stated by People.
The detective also spoke with Sims on October 2. She told the detective that while she was working at the school, “several boys in the class tried to add her on social media but she never” accepted their requests.
When police told her the phone call was recorded, she confirmed it was her voice they heard. However, she said she agreed to meet the teen “so that he could apologize for the way he had acted in class.”
Sims told detectives that she and the minor never met up, and they never had a physical relationship.
Sims was arrested and charged with procuring or promoting the use of a minor for sexual activity by electronic means. Currently, she is being held in Barren County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond, per People. She was set to be arraigned October 8.
