TRIGGER WARNING: This post contains information about suicide, which may be triggering to some.
Reports indicate that yet another person has died while at a Walt Disney World property in Florida. If you’re keeping tabs, that’s the fifth person in less than a month. Two people died of apparent suicide, but the other three deaths were reportedly sudden. The “Most Magical Place on Earth” welcomes millions of guests each year. In the grand scheme of things, the death rate remains very low, but the stories continue to make people uneasy and have left many wondering what the heck is going on.
The first death in the most recent string occurred on October 14, 2025. Summer Equitz, 31, reportedly jumped to her death at the Contemporary Resort after disappearing from her home near Chicago. On October 21, 60-year-old Keith Patterson died at the Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds following an undisclosed medical issue.
Two days later on October 23, Matthew Cohen, 28, reportedly jumped to his death at the Contemporary, just like Equitz. A woman in her 40s reportedly had a medical emergency on November 2, and emergency crews took her from Pop Century Resort to a nearby hospital. Staff declared her dead a short time later.
According to a statement obtained by the New York Post, a fifth person died on November 8.
“Although there was a death at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, we declined jurisdiction,” the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office shared in a statement.
Even though the deaths don’t appear to have anything to do with Disney, the fact that so many people have died there in a short period of time bothers some people, particularly the suicides. Walt Disney World is a family vacation destination. Those who died by suicide at Disney knew it. The Instagram account @spiritualworld shared the story, and the comment section was filled with questions.
“I truly want to know why ppl are choosing Disney as the place to ‘end their life’ .. what’s the real tea behind that,” someone asked in the post’s comments section.
“Who’s picking Disney to commit a suicide? like, let’s be real. that doesn’t sound too right,” another person agreed.
Others had a hard time with the financial aspect.
“I can’t imagine spending Disney money to just end it all,” another person wrote.
A death that occurred by accident or natural causes is one thing, but the suicides had intent behind them, and it’s upsetting.
“If you can’t go to Disney world then where can you go,” a commenter questioned.
Death is the only guarantee in life. Unfortunately, we don’t always know when it will happen. Sometimes, it’s on a costly vacation. Even though five people died in a very short period of time at Disney World, most people left the resort just as they came. We don’t think this will hurt Disney’s business, but if it becomes a suicide destination, that could change.
