What to Know
After the New York Times published an article about how President Donald Trump is aging, he posted a long rant about how the publication is “failing” and he is doing amazing, actually. In his scathing Truth Social post, he also bashed reporter Katie Rogers, one of the journalists who worked on the piece titled “Shorter Days, Signs of Fatigue: Trump Faces Realities of Aging in Office.”
Perhaps unsurprisingly, he did not stop at critiquing the journalist’s work and also criticized her appearance and overall character.
Objectively, Trump is getting older. At age 79, he is the oldest president to be sworn into office. And according to the New York Times piece, his official appearances have decreased by 39 percent.
The article also mentioned how he seemingly dozed off during an Oval Office event on November 6, and how his apparent hand makeup has sparked rumors about his declining health.
The piece clearly bothered Trump.
In his post on Truth Social, he started by bragging about his achievements. “The Creeps at the Failing New York Times are at it again. I won the 2024 Presidential Election in a Landslide, winning all Seven Swing States, the Popular Vote, and the Electoral College by a lot,” he started, adding that the country is “respected again” thanks to him.
According to him, everything that he has done “requires a lot of Work and Energy,” which, in his mind, should serve as evidence that the information included in the New York Times article is not accurate.
“The last Administration had the Highest Inflation in history – I have already brought that down to normal, and prices, including groceries, are coming down,” Trump wrote. “To do this requires a lot of Work and Energy, and I have never worked so hard in my life. Yet despite all of this the Radical Left Lunatics in the soon to fold New York Times did a hit piece on me that I am perhaps losing my Energy, despite facts that show the exact opposite.”
He claimed that the New York Times reporters “know” the report is “wrong.”
He also criticized the reporter.
In the same post, he added, “The writer of the story, Katie Rogers, who is assigned to write only bad things about me, is a third rate reporter who is ugly, both inside and out. Despite all of this, I have my highest Poll Numbers, ever, and with record setting investment being made in America, they should only go up.”
It’s unclear which poll numbers he’s referring to, as Gallop reports that, with just 36% of Americans expressing approval, his approval rating has reached a record low for his second term.
He concluded the post by acknowledging that he will show signs of aging one day, but that (allegedly) hasn’t happened yet. “There will be a day when I run low on Energy, it happens to everyone, but with a PERFECT PHYSICAL EXAM AND A COMPREHENSIVE COGNITIVE TEST (‘That was aced’) JUST RECENTLY TAKEN, it certainly is not now!” he argued.
In response, the publication released a statement.

After Trump posted his rant about the reporter and the publication, a spokesperson for the New York Times defended its journalists and its reporting. “The Times’s reporting is accurate and built on first hand reporting of the facts,” the statement read.
“Name-calling and personal insults don’t change that, nor will our journalists hesitate to cover this administration in the face of intimidation tactics like this.”
The spokesperson continued with, “Expert and thorough reporters like Katie Rogers exemplify how an independent and free press helps the American people better understand their government and its leaders.”
