The holiday season may not be so merry and bright for one Pennsylvania family. Kameren Leith, a teenage boy in Washington Township, has been arrested after allegedly attacking his mother. Despite receiving multiple stab wounds, it appears she may have survived. Currently, a motive for the attack has not been released by authorities, but those close to the incident say that the teenager had been acting strangely. In the days and weeks while police conduct their investigation, it may come out that his motives were premeditated. Thus far, it is unclear when he will have his first court appearance.
Police were called to a home about 10:45 a.m. December 14, 2025, WGAL reported. A neighbor called 911 after 16-year-old Leith allegedly stabbed his mother repeatedly.
When emergency crews arrived, the woman was awake and breathing. But according to court documents, she had “20 to 30 stab wounds all over her body, including in the area of her chest and legs,” the outlet noted.
The victim told police her son “stabbed her repeatedly with a butcher knife and struck her in the head with a baseball bat” while she was in an upstairs bedroom, WGAL reported.
After allegedly stabbing his mother, Leith, who does not have a driver’s license, stole her car and drove away. His mother was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and required emergency surgery. Her condition is currently unknown.

When investigators searched the home, they found “blood pooled and splattered throughout,” police said. A trail of blood and bloody footprints throughout the home led to the outside because the mom went to ask a neighbor for help.
Court documents revealed that Leith’s stepfather told police in an interview that the day before the incident, the mom had said the teen had “a knife and a baseball bat laid out, and he was acting strange,” WGAL reported.
According to Fox 43, a be on the lookout, or BOLO, notice was put out for Leith and his mom’s car. Investigators also pinged his phone, which helped locate him. State police in the Bedford area were then able to find the teen, and after a brief foot chase, they arrested him.
After a felony warrant was issued for Leith, he was taken to Franklin County for arraignment. He was put in Franklin County Jail to wait for a court date.
The teen is being charged as an adult with attempted criminal homicide and theft by unlawful taking or disposition. According to WGAL, he was denied bail.
