Teen’s Body Found Near Motorcycle Following Accident Days After He Went Missing on Family Vacation

A family in Malaysia is mourning the unexpected death of their teenage son. Ahmad Azreeq Zafreen, had joined his six family members for a trip to the Cameron Highlands to celebrate a long weekend. But sadly, he never made it to his destination. Although his family traveled by car, he chose to travel by motorcycle. When he didn’t answer their messages to meet for dinner, the teen’s family became concerned and they filed a missing person’s report. For reasons that have not been shared by authorities, his motorcycle may have skidded and his body ended up in a bush. He had been missing for several days at that point.

According to Free Malaysia Today, 19-year-old Azreeq was reported missing on March 6, 2026. He was last seen at a gas station in Beting Lintang while he was traveling with his family to the Cameron Highlands. His parents and four siblings went by car, while Azreeq followed them on his bike.

CCTV footage from the gas station confirmed the teen had been there, according to Besut Police Chief Rozaime Ab Rahim, Malaysian government news agency Bernama reported. His family filed a missing person’s report, leading to an active investigation.

“At about 12:30 a.m., we stopped for food at Kampung Anak Ikan in Besut and contacted him, asking him to stop at the same eatery. However, we have been unable to reach him since then,” his father, Ahmad Azhar, told the outlet.

The police chief confirmed that Azreeq’s body was found alongside his motorcycle in bushes by the roadside. He was discovered by “members of the public” at 6:40 p.m. on March 8, Bernama reported.

“The victim is believed to have died that night after his family failed to contact him in the early hours of Friday after his Yamaha R15 motorcycle skidded,” the police chief shared.

Azreeq’s father had a feeling something wasn’t right, but couldn’t figure out what was making him feel uneasy.

“I thought his handphone was out of battery and that he would join us at a restaurant near Gua Musang, but he did not turn up,” his father told the New Straits Times. “But when we could not contact him and could not find him anywhere, including at hospitals and police stations in Kelantan and Terengganu, we began to feel very uneasy,” he said.

Azhar told the New Straits Times that he advised his son, who he “fondly called” Along, “to always follow behind the car.”

After his son didn’t turn up, the father admitted he was concerned. “As a father, of course l have bad feeling but l told myself to keep looking for him,” he explained. “I went to several police stations and had called few hospitals.

It is unknown what caused Azreeq’s motorcycle to skid off the road, and a cause and manner of death have not been released.

Azreeq was laid to rest March 8 at the Syeikh Ibrahim Muslim Cemetery, Jalan Pusara, Kuala Terengganu.
