‘Love Is Blind’ Groom Sentenced to 15 Years for Attempted Murder

There’s something so chilling about when things go completely wrong on a show like Love Is Blind. Of course, at the center of this reality show is a social experiment that asks, “Is love truly blind?” You can connect with someone on a deep level even if you don’t even know what they look like. But it also involves real people who could get hurt if paired with the wrong person. For Emily Seco, who starred on the 2024 series, Love Is Blind: Argentina, the person she fell for on the show left irreparable damage.

According to The Tab, Santiago Martínez, who was a groom on the popular Netflix reality television show Love Is Blind: Argentina, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after attempting to murder his wife, Emily Ceco, whom he met and married on the show in 2024.

During the show, Santiago was coupled with Emily, and the pair even married at the end. They planned to have a real wedding in February 2025 to make things official. Still, Emily broke things off and reported Santiago for gender-based violence.

During the court proceedings, The Tab reported that Santiago was sentenced to 15 years after being found guilty of attempted murder, repeated assault, and unlawful detention.

On the show, they were portrayed as a genuine couple with a deep connection who quickly fell in love and wanted to spend their lives together, which is super scary.

Emily spoke out for the first time about her ex’s sentencing.

According to Reality Shrine, Emily reported Santiago for gender-based violence after he gave her a black eye. She called off their engagement entirely and Santiago was issued a restraining order to prevent him from approaching his ex.

Emily is in disbelief that her nightmare is finally over. “I can’t believe it. I feel it’s over, I’m finally going to have peace. Justice has been done,” she told Reality Shrine.

The former Love Is Blind star recalled that her body was “shaking” when she saw Santiago at the sentencing for the first time since calling off their engagement. “I was terrified. During his statement, he apologized and said he still loved me,” she said. What a horrifying thing to have to go through.

She told Reality Shrine that she now has “15 years of peace” ahead of her and she just hopes the “justice system continues” to protect her. We hope so, too! Every victim deserves justice and peace.

Santiago has denied allegations that he was going to kill his partner.

According to The Tab, a journalist spoke with people close to Santiago, and he argued that it was “just a family fight.” What an awful thing for Emily to have to hear.

Reality Shrine reported that Santiago posted on Instagram after his sentencing saying he wanted to “publicly take responsibility” for the incident. However, he claimed that he never tried to “kill the woman [he] loved” as those claims were “unfounded” and “created by the media circus.”

He went on to claim that “experts said in their reports that the injuries were minor” and there was “never any danger of death.”

Well, it seems that the court felt very differently. We’re sending Emily and all victims of domestic violence nothing but healing and peaceful vibes.
