When we were young, we totally remember all the moms talking about the 1992 best-selling book Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus. Author John Gray explained that men and women are not just physically different but also fundamentally different when it comes to how they think and feel. At the time, this was ground-breaking stuff. Nearly 35 years later, it’s like, “Duh.” Even though we understand the differences, that doesn’t mean we really know what or how men think. A recent Reddit thread exposed some very interesting misconceptions women have about men and what they care about when it comes to women. And honestly, we feel a lot better.
Men don’t really care about clothes.
Even when we think we’ve got men all figured out, they will surprise us. The askReddit sub reminded us that men aren’t always as critical as we think. When it comes to our clothes, for instance, it means nothing to them.
“Wearing the same outfit too often or wearing the same clothes as another woman in the place you end up. Men don’t care. Other women sometimes do,” someone responded.
We really don’t need to fill our closets, even though we still will.
“Repeating outfits. We’re over here thinking it’s been seen too many times and men are just cycling through their seasonal top 4 like nothing happened,” another person added.
Men like a more natural-looking woman.
That’s not to say that putting on a bit of makeup or primping is a bad thing, but plenty of men don’t find all of the extras necessary.
“I don’t mean to sound judgmental or disrespectful in any way, but what is up with all these lip injections, ladies? It’s lowkey to the point where half the women I see look like a bass that just got hooked and tossed back into a pond,” one man pointed out.
Too much makeup can be a distraction to some men.
“makeup. most guys genuinely cannot tell the difference between ‘no makeup’ and ‘natural makeup look.’ the whole industry built around making it look like you’re wearing nothing is kind of wild when you think about it,” a Redditor explained.
Still, if you like getting dolled up every day, keep doing you.
We don’t have to be so insecure about our bodies.
Every woman in the world has parts of her body she doesn’t like. She might feel too fat, too thin, too hairy, or any of millions of other possible insecurities. It might come as a surprise, but most men don’t care.
One guy couldn’t care less about what’s under the dress: “The shape of their vulva or the size of their labia,” he wrote. “Ladies, I can pretty much guarantee you that whatever you’re packing down there, we are going to love it.”
And don’t worry about those tiger stripes either, girls.
“Stretch marks. I was complaining to my partner about mine and he literally said ‘what are stretch marks?’ So I showed him, and he was like ‘oh… huh okay.’ But I’m not convinced he actually grasped what they were. I think to him, that is just what skin can look like,” a woman wrote.
This just goes to show that women are the ones putting the pressure on ourselves. Sure, we already knew that, but it’s nice to see there are honest men who love women for who they are and simply don’t notice every perceived flaw.
