What to Know
A mom and her identical twin sister went viral after they played a switcheroo on one of the twins’ toddler. It is not uncommon for twins to play this kind of prank on people, even their own children, just to see if they can. And while it may work on older people or those not in the know, it’s rare that it works on one of their children. That’s one of the reasons this video is so cute — the little one is genuinely so confused about who his real mom is! Of course, the video got people talking and sharing their own stories about being confused by twins, whether it was on purpose or accidentally.
The video shows the little one has a great bond with his aunt.

In the brief video, the little one comes out of a bedroom looking like he just had a nap in the arms of one woman. When he is greeted by the other woman, he immediately looks skeptical. After a few seconds of looking between the two women, he finally gets what’s happening.
Once it clicks, the little one reaches for his mom, leaving the arms of her identical twin sister. Clearly, if they’re fooling a toddler, they must be pretty similar.
“My baby realizing he’s been with mom’s twin for the last 24 hours and not mom,” the video reads. “Helps with the mom guilt knowing he thought I was there all along,” the caption says.
One commenter warned, “he’s gonna start telling he has two moms and a dad and you’re gonna have to explain that 😅😭😭.” The mom replied, writing “One of my other kids does this at preschool already 😅.”
A lot of people had identical twin stories to share.

“My husband and I have twin boys. During feeding time we have a rule, once one is done they get a gold star on their forehead. Because I’ve fed the same baby twice before😭😭,” one mom wrote.
“My mother and aunt are identical twins. My aunt moved in with us for a short time. That was a freaking NIGHTMARE. ‘hey mo-nope not mom’ my father was STRESSED🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣,” another person shared.
“My mom is an identical twin. My aunt picked me up from school one day and I talked to her the entire way home. She pulls in the driveway and says ‘okay be real quiet when you go in, your mom has a migraine.’ I’ve never been so flabbergasted lol I was like 15 😂 It doesn’t happen often but we’ve all been tricked once,” someone else shared.
“My dad was an identical twin and my uncle lives in another state. When dad died, my uncle came for the funeral, coincidentally wearing the same shirt we had chosen for my father. It was so funny watching people who never met my uncle think they were seeing a ghost during the funeral 😂😂😂😂,” someone shared.
“I had to wear my identical sister’s glasses for a bit when I lost mine 😅 and my niece kept getting confused and calling me mom, to the point she just started asking are you mom or titi?” another person commented.
“What messes me up about having an identical twin parent is that they not only look alike, but they sound alike and as a kid I couldn’t tell them a part, so my dad and I had a password, because my uncle played too much 🤣,” another person wrote.
Commenters also pointed something else out.

“Therapist: When did your trust issues start? 😆,” one person wrote.
“Adult trust issues incoming,” another added.
“‘When do you think your trust issues started?’ ‘Funny you ask Doc, I’ve got video.’ 🤣🤣🤣,” one commenter wrote.
“Kid in 20 years… and that is why I have trust issues 🤣,” another person quipped.
