The latest update on Amanda Bynes shows that she still seems to be struggling this year. According to TMZ, Amanda was placed on a psychiatric hold after being detained by police for the second time in 2023 just months after she was freed from the conservatorship she had been under for much of her adult life.

Police were called on Saturday to help a woman in distress.
As TMZ reported, Amanda was out in Los Angeles over the weekend when the LAPD responded to a call for a woman who appeared to be having a mental health issue. She was put into handcuffs and taken to a police station to be evaluated by a professional.
She was calm and looked 'defeated,' according to witnesses.

Sources say that although Amanda does keep up with taking her prescribed medications and seeing her therapist as needed, she's been struggling lately. After ending her engagement with Paul Michael, she's been living alone and has been "despondent."
Amanda has since been placed on a psychiatric hold.

TMZ later reported that Amanda was determined to be a danger to herself and others, so she is on a 5150 psychiatric hold — and she was the one who made the call to police, asking for help. She can be held for up to 72 hours, although it's not clear what will happen next.

This is the second time Amanda has been placed on a psychiatric hold in recent months.
Back in March, Amanda was found on the streets of LA, not wearing any clothing, when she called 911 to ask for help, sharing that she was having a psychotic episode.
At the time, Amanda's hold ended up being extended for at least a week past the mandatory 72-hour period because she wasn't communicating with anyone close to her and may not have even been able to remember what happened when she was found.
This year seems to have been a particularly difficult one for Amanda.

She isn't afraid to ask for help because she was the one who called 911 during both incidents. Here's hoping that reaching out will end in her finally getting the assistance that she needs so she can be on the path to recovery very soon.
