Fans React After ‘Sister Wives’ Star Garrison Brown’s Cause of Death Is Revealed

Two months after the shocking news broke that Sister Wives star Garrison Brown had died at age 25, we now have more information about what happened that night. Fans know Garrison as the son of Kody and Janelle Brown on the TLC reality series about a polygamous family, and many are still reeling from the news that he is no longer with us — especially after how sudden it was. And now, his official cause of death has been revealed.

Garrison died in early March.

At the time, police in Flagstaff, Arizona, confirmed that Garrison had died "as a result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound."

"Kody and I are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beautiful boy Robert Garrison Brown," Kody and Janelle shared in a statement. "He was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him. His loss will leave such a big hole in our lives that it takes our breath away. We ask that you please respect our privacy and join us in honoring his memory."

The autopsy results are in.

According to the autopsy report from the Coconino County medical examiner that was obtained by People, his manner of death was ruled a suicide, confirming that his cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, as was previously reported.

"Ethanol intoxication" (or alcohol poisoning) also contributed to Garrison's death. At the time he died, his blood alcohol level was .307%. As People pointed out, the legal limit in the US is .08% and levels above .40% could be fatal.

Fans are reacting to the news online.

Many people are pointing out that his time on reality TV — and his fraught relationship with Kody — couldn't have helped.

"My heart breaks for him and all those kids that didn't ask for the spotlight and stigma of their parents choices to put their lives on television," one person wrote on Instagram. "Live your lives however you chose but the kids didn't have that choice. My heart is with him."

Another person added, "Cause of death was rejection by his father."

It's clear Garrison is very missed.

In the months since his death, his family members have continued to share photos and memories of him, proving just how many people truly loved him. Here's hoping that the family continues to have the support they need as they continue to grieve an unthinkable loss.
