As the dust settles from the bombshells dropped in the new docuseries Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets, Jill Duggar is breaking her silence. She took to Instagram to talk about having courage in the wake of speaking so openly about her family's dark involvement with the Institute in Basic Life Principles, or IBLP.

Jill broke her social media silence with a photo of herself.
In the photo, Jill's standing in the water and looking down at the sand with a smile on her face.
In her caption, she wrote, "Life is a journey. Sometimes courage is built in the toughest storms."
There's no doubt it took a lot of courage for her to speak out against her parents and the IBLP.
She also took the opportunity to thank her husband.
In a follow-up post, Jill shared a selfie of her and husband Derick Dillard kissing. Derick also appeared in the docuseries alongside Jill.
"I’m so incredibly grateful for my man @derickdillard. His support means the world to me," she wrote, encouraging fans to preorder her new book, Counting the Cost, which is all about her life growing up as a Duggar.
Jill didn't hold back when it came to talking about her family in the documentary.

Though it was obviously difficult for Jill to speak about some subjects (including her brother, Josh), she showed a tremendous amount of that courage she was talking about — and she didn't hold back. At one point, she even mentioned that her father, Jim Bob, is the kind of person who goes after power, which must have been a hard realization for her to come to.
Jill has been treated so unfairly over the years, and the docuseries really hammered that point home.
Jill seems to have finally found peace.
After sharing a selfie on Instagram earlier this week, Jill shared a few more words of wisdom with her followers.
"Relationships and life’s journey are sometimes complex. You can recognize the beauty in your story while still acknowledging the difficult parts," she wrote. "It’s like roses and thorns, justice and grace. The two can coexist. They don’t have to invalidate each other. The highs aren’t automatically erased or invalidated by the lows.
"You can still love others, be grateful for and recognize the 'happy' parts in your story while calling out the harsh realities in other areas," she added.

Hopefully, Jill's journey continues to be a positive one.
It seems as if it took a lot of work and personal growth for her to be able to get to the place she is now — after all, growing up in a cult-like religion and then escaping it as an adult isn't for the weak.
Her parents might not be happy about it, but Jill is doing what's best for her.
