Jinger and Jeremy opened up on the podcast 'Relatable.'
The husband and wife team appeared on the podcast of controversial far-right blogger Allie Beth Stuckey. During the lengthy interview, Jinger and Jeremy discussed why watching Josh Duggar's fall from grace made them feel like they needed to speak out about the things Jinger experienced in her ultra-conservative family.
The former reality star called her brother 'two-faced.'
Jinger staunchly defended her faith in the interview, saying that one of the reasons she believed she needed to share her story was because she feared Josh's behavior would give people an excuse to blame religion for his crimes.
"In that time when my brother was about to be arrested I was looking at all of these and thinking, man the glory of God is just – it's going to be dragged through the dirt because people think this is what it is," she recalled.
The mother of two wants to make sure people aren't bringing religion into Josh's crimes.
Continuing with the metaphor of her brother's two faces, Jinger explained how she and Jeremy wanted to make a distinction between "putting on roles" like what her brother did by pretending to be a pious community member and "what the heart of true Christianity is."
"We're not going to come to God with anything. We’re not bringing our religion into this," she continued.
Shockingly, Jinger blames 'purity' culture for some of what went wrong with her brother.
"[There was] talk about purity about keeping yourself pure. Almost viewing talking about sex with your kids, all of that at appropriate ages, and like about how your bodies are changing, that's totally pushed out," she recalled.
She added that they aren't even taught that it's OK to enjoy sex within the bonds of marriage. "There's such a focus on pushing out all of that as almost like evil."

A combination of Josh's crimes and getting some distance from her family has allowed Jinger to see the IBLP in a new light.
Although she has stepped away from the teachings of Bill Gothard, she does still have a more restrictive religious view than many of her contemporaries.
We're glad to see Jinger growing and embracing change and hope that she continues to expand her world view as she sees more of it. As Jinger's relationship with her family continues to grow more distant, we have a feeling we'll hear a lot more about what it was really like growing up as a Duggar.
