What to Know
Even though Josh Duggar was convicted on federal charges of receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material, and his appeal to the Supreme Court was denied, he’s still going at it. According to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, he tried to file a motion to vacate his conviction, but he might have filed it too late. And, if that’s the case, he’s a bit out of luck.
His timing couldn’t be worse, of course. With Joseph Duggar’s own arrest on serious charges making headlines every day and the Duggar family as a whole under a microscope, apparently, Josh is still all about Josh. He’s concerned for his own future above all others, but then again, no one really expected anything less from him.
Josh Duggar claimed he filed the motion in time.
Josh had a specific date by which he had to file the motion to vacate. If he missed that date, the motion won’t move forward. As it is, if he did make the deadline for filing, that doesn’t guarantee Josh any movement or progress in getting a new trial. But he apparently still believes that there was evidence withheld during his trial and that he wasn’t given a fair trial.
The Arkansas Democrat Gazette reported that Josh believes a government official who testified in the case gave a false testimony about Josh. The eldest Duggar son also thinks that the court did not take into account his claims that someone else had access to his computer that was seized and searched.
The issue here, though, is that Josh claimed he filed on time through the prison mail system. If that’s the case, then he might have some leeway because of the naturally delayed mailing process at the prison. However, he also mentioned that wife Anna Duggar helped him. So if that proves to be true, then the prison mailbox defense doesn’t work.
Anna Duggar might have helped him.

On a Reddit thread about Josh’s motion to vacate and the issues surrounding it, people discussed the ramifications of Anna’s possible involvement. Because if she did, she might have done her hubby more harm than good.
“If it is revealed that Anna printed, mailed, or delivered [Josh’s] papers, then that means he forfeits the ‘prison mailbox rule’ and his papers were late and should be rejected as untimely,” someone commented on the thread. They added, “Also, if Anna tried to do her own amateur legal research or help [Josh] write stuff in his pro se papers, then that might possibly constitute ‘unauthorized practice of law’ in some jurisdictions.”
Someone else joked, “Anna assisted him with the help of ChatGPT. It’s helped her create her stupid dog logo and all her Instagram posts too.” That is in reference to Anna’s breeding business, and it may not be totally inaccurate.
People say he’s just wasting everyone’s time.

Josh will forever have eldest boy syndrome in the Duggar family. He is widely considered to be Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s golden child despite his conviction. People pointed out in the comments of the Reddit post how much that mentality has stuck with him over the years.
“My favorite part about all of this is he’s sitting in prison with nothing to do and still couldn’t be bothered to mail his own documents a day early,” a Redditor commented. “Now he’s wasting everyone’s time because he thinks he’s so important.”
“It’s even more obvious he’s never had consequences in his life before,” another wrote.
Someone also added, “I would have thought going to prison would have been a wake up call at least that he was not as important as he thinks, but apparently not.”
