Josh Duggar Transferred to 5th Prison in 5 Years

Josh Duggar is settling in to his new home behind bars… again. After the former reality star was on the move for much of the summer, he has now been transferred to his fifth prison in just five years: a facility in Ohio that may put him even further away from his wife, Anna Duggar, and the couple’s seven children.

Josh has been transferred to a federal prison in Ohio.

Local Arkansas outlet KNWA reported that on July 8, Josh was moved to Elkton Federal Correctional Institution in Lisbon, Ohio, making this his third transfer this year.

So far, Josh has served most of his sentence out at FCI Seagoville in Texas, but earlier this summer, he was transferred to Federal Medical Center Fort Worth, and then to the Oklahoma City Federal Transfer Center. Now, it sounds like he’s reached the destination where he could end up staying a while.

With more than 2,000 inmates behind bars at Elkton, it’s described by the Bureau of Prisons as “a low security federal correctional institution with an adjacent low security satellite prison.” This means Josh is in a more crowded facility, which could end up being more uncomfortable for him than his former home in Seagoville.

It’s unclear why Josh was moved, though. Previously, the BOP told KNWA in a statement, “For privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not discuss the conditions of confinement for any individual in our custody, including reasons for transfer.”

He’s not the only TLC alum serving time there.

As Duggar critics pointed out in a post on Reddit, there’s another former TLC star serving time at FCI Elkton: Mike Eloshway, who was featured on the first season of 90 Day Fiancé.

According to Cleveland.com, Mike was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2024 after he was convicted on child pornography charges that sound similar to what landed Josh in jail, too.

Another similarity to Josh: He’s also on a mission to convince a judge to vacate his sentence. TMZ reported that earlier this month, he filed documents claiming that his lawyer fumbled the case by not hiring a forensic digital expert to examine the evidence that allegedly came from his computer.

This transfer isn’t good news for Josh’s family.

Seagoville was still a long drive from the Duggars’ home base in Springdale, Arkansas, but Anna and the kids were known to take the trip to see Josh pretty regularly.

But now that he’s based in Ohio, Josh will be more than 850 miles away from his wife, which means she’d have to drive over 13 hours to see him in person… which is obviously not ideal, even without having kids in the backseat.

Josh’s lawyer, Beau Brindley, told TMZ over the weekend that Anna’s still planning to make the trip as often as she can, though the move will make it “incredibly hard” for their family to spend time together from here on out.

Maybe that’s a good thing? It’s prison, not a vacation — and did we forget that Josh is serving time for incredibly serious crimes?
