Josh Duggar has had a few ups and downs behind bars as he began serving out his prison sentence more than two years ago. But now, it sounds like he might even be able to describe his life in FCI Seagoville as … cushy? According to what a prison insider is saying, Josh has been moved to an honors dorm and is even receiving “special privileges” these days. What?!

Josh's life in the federal prison facility he's serving his time might be looking up.
As an insider at the Texas facility told The Sun, Josh has recently moved into a new dorm that is meant to house “model inmates.” It sounds like it’s not just nicer than the area where Josh was living previously, but it’s even being decorated.
“They finished painting the walls and getting flowers put into Dorm 6, where Josh lives,” the insider said. “It’s been turned into an honors dorm.”
Because the dorm is supposed to be a reward for good behavior, it comes with special perks.
“They get special privileges and building updates because it’s an honors dorm,” the source continued. “There are washers and dryers, microwaves, and more.”
The idea is that not just anyone can live there. The insider claims that inmates must earn their way in and “can’t have any disciplinary actions in a certain amount of time, have to have a job and must sign a code of conduct agreement.”
Josh, however, may not have earned his spot in his new digs.
The source added that Josh wouldn’t have met the requirements to live there based on his own merits, so the insider believes the rules were bent to allow him in.
“Josh apparently doesn’t work, but he is getting a degree and they’re counting that as an exception so he can stay,” the person said. “According to the rules, he would be disqualified from living there because of his SHU time a couple of years ago, but they’ve decided to waive that for him.”

Last year, Josh spent two months in solitary confinement.
In 2023, disciplinary action was taken against Josh when he was caught using a contraband cellphone while in prison. Not only did his punishment mean spending two months in the Special Housing Unit (often referred to as the SHU) but his release date also got pushed back by two months. Now, he’ll be behind bars until October 2032, so he still has about eight more years to go.
When it comes to Josh's hopes for an early release, it seems he's finally run out of options.
In June, Josh’s appeal was rejected by the Supreme Court when his attorney, Justin Gelfand, tried to argue there was no proof that Josh hadn’t been hacked and that he wasn’t truly the one who had been responsible for downloading those images of child sexual assault material that led to his conviction.
Josh continues to serve his time as his wife Anna raises their seven children out of the spotlight.
