Julianne Hough Shares Spa Video But ‘Concerned’ Fans Call It ‘Inappropriate’ & ‘Weird’

After sharing a silly, lighthearted video about her relaxing Sunday, Julianne Hough felt compelled to address a myriad of concerns people had. In the video, which the Dancing With the Stars judge shared on Instagram, Julianne, 36, appeared to have a relaxing Sunday that involved spending time in the sauna, using a red light therapy mask, and jumping on a trampoline β€” all things that don’t seem especially odd. But after Julianne shared the video, people were quick to label it as “inappropriate” and “weird.”

In the video, Julianne dances around in her bikini, jumps on a trampoline, and laughs.

Julianne’s video, captioned with “Sunday Spa Day πŸ‘―β€β™€οΈ,” starts with her adjusting her black hat while in the sauna. In the video, she’s wearing a snake-print bikini. She puts a red light therapy mask on and dances around goofily. Later in the video, she does a cold plunge and jumps on a small trampoline, laughing and making a few silly gestures in the process.

Apparently, her fun spa day was actually quite 'disturbing.'

Julianne later edited her post to explain that the video captured her “playful side,” which is also her “most authentic” self β€” after people commented about how “weird” and “disturbing” the video was. Though Julianne appeared to be having fun and messing around, some people clearly did not see it that way.

“This is the weirdest thing I’ve seen in a while,” one person commented on the video.

Another person wrote, “What is the deal with all your inappropriate videos lately?”

Some fans might've been genuinely concerned.

Some of the people who commented on the video seemed to be concerned about Julianne’s health and well-being.

“She looks very thin and a little not quite right???” one person commented.

Another wrote: “I’m concerned. Are you ok?”

However, others wondered why people were so concerned just because a woman shared a video in which she appeared to be enjoying her life.

“Why when a woman is happy, confident and comfortable with herself do people get concerned and judge harshly?” one comment read.

Julianne edited her post to respond to people's concerns.

“I don’t usually address comments like this but I’m going to say a few things about this video,” Julianne later wrote. She addressed some of the concerns one-by-one, explaining her black hat (“a protective cap from the heat as to not burn my hair”), the red light therapy mask (“incredible for you and might as well kill two birds with one stone while you are in the sauna”), the trampoline (“promotes lymphatic drainage”), and her bikini (“the best outfit for these activities”).

She went on to address the concerns about her health, saying that her “body has never been healthier.”

“I was full of inflammation in my 20’s and had a marker for an auto immune that I addressed and committed to over a year and a half ago,” Julianne wrote. “I’ve frozen my eggs over the last few years which also shifts the body fluctuation. I’ve never been healthier or happier from the inside out.”

She explained the reason for her silliness in the video.

Why was Julianne being so silly in her video? Because she was being herself β€” and she believes it’s good and healthy to have the freedom to be “playful” and “weird.” It’s a side of her that fans might not see often, but those who are close to her are familiar with the playful version of Julianne.

“I saw somewhere that when kids are the most playful and can be the most strange and weird versions of themselves it means they are the safest to do so,” she explained. “My playful goofy side is a reflection of how safe I feel in my own skin and with the people around me. Everyone who is close to me knows this side of me means I am the most free in judgement of myself and from others.”

Some of the critics might've been 'genuinely concerned' because they're not used to seeing Julianne behave that way, she acknowledged.

In her final points, Julianne addressed the people who might’ve been “genuinely concerned” about her. “For those of you genuinely concerned because this is unusual for you to see, I understand that what you don’t understand feels unfamiliar and sometimes scary,” she wrote. “I’m going to continue feeling safe within myself regardless of the outpouring of your comments, and have fun with life which can be really heavy and challenging.”

“So why not be playful and laugh and enjoy the journey instead of taking everything so seriously,” she concluded.

She invited people to join her in embracing their playful sides. “Sending love, light and playful energy your way πŸ’•,” she added.
