
Like many people around the world, senior members of the British royal family attend church on Easter Sunday. Unlike regular folks, however, the royals' Easter services involve a huge media fanfare. This year was a bit different than most in light of King Charles and Kate Middleton's recent cancer diagnoses.
In February, the reigning monarch, 75, announced he had cancer. The Princess of Wales, 42, revealed that she was also diagnosed with cancer in a video posted on March 22. It makes sense, then, that Easter services would be affected by this news.

King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived together at St. George's Chapel.
On Easter morning, Charles and Camilla arrived at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. Before entering the building for services, the royals paused to wave to and greet members of the public gathered to catch a glimpse of them. Charles wore a suit and jacket with a light blue tie for the occasion. Meanwhile, Camilla donned a green dress with a matching hat and a black jacket and gloves.
Which members of the royal family joined them for Easter services?
During the church services, Charles and Camilla sat together. They were seated away from other members of the royal family to limit exposure to infection amid cancer treatment, People reported. Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie, attended with their son, James, in addition to Princess Anne and husband Timothy Laurence, Prince Andrew, and Sarah Ferguson.
The king also chatted with royal fans afterward.

Following the church services, King Charles again approached royal fans to shake hands and chat before leaving. Members of the public seemed to wish the monarch well amid his cancer treatment. Charles appeared to be in good spirits as he interacted with supporters.

Kate and her family were noticeably absent from Easter services.
As expected, Kate was absent from the event. Prince William and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, also sat out the service. Previously, the Princess of Wales shared she was undergoing chemotherapy treatment at the recommendation of her medical team.
Kate asked for privacy when announcing her cancer.
"I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on things that will help me heal in mind, body and spirits," Kate explained in the video announcing her diagnosis. The mom of three also noted that her family needs "time, space, and privacy" as she continues to recover from her abdominal surgery and undergoes chemotherapy.
