There’s no doubt that this year must have been quite a difficult one for Kate Middleton as she underwent chemotherapy treatment, but she’s still making a point to take part in a major holiday tradition. On Thursday, the Princess of Wales shared a teaser video for her upcoming Christmas carol service, which she will be hosting for the fourth year in a row.

The clip was shared on Will and Kate's official social media accounts.
Alongside footage of the invitations to the event being printed (including Kate’s official seal) accompanied by holiday music, the Prince and Princess of Wales announced that the big day is right around the corner.
“The invitations are fresh off the press for this year’s Together At Christmas Carol Service, which will be returning to Westminster Abbey on Friday 6 December,” they shared in the caption.
More than 1,000 people will be in attendance at the service.
According to People, Kensington Palace has confirmed that 1,600 invitations have been sent out, and at Kate’s request, the guest list will include those who have gone the extra mile to help others and “above all else, shown that love is the greatest gift we can receive.”
“This theme takes inspiration from the Christmas story, which encourages us to consider the experiences of others and the important human need of giving and receiving empathy,” said the palace.
The event's theme this year revolves around empathy.
“This year’s service provides a moment to reflect upon the importance of love and empathy, and how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives,” said a statement from Kate’s office. “The service will shine a light on individuals from all over the U.K. who have shown love, kindness and empathy towards others in their communities.”

In September, it was confirmed that Kate would be hosting again.
After her cancer diagnosis, whether or not Kate would return as host of the event was up in the air for a while. But in late September, it was confirmed that she would be coming back after she held her first planning meeting for the concert. Slowly, Kate has been getting back into her old work routine, and this should be a fun way for her to jump back in.
The event is always a big deal.
In years past, William, Charlotte, George, and Louis have all come out to support Kate at the event (along with other members of the royal family), and the special is broadcast on the UK’s ITV on Christmas Eve each year.
It will be fun to see what Kate comes up with this year. After everything she and her family have been through this year, they will likely welcome having something to celebrate.
