Prince William & Kate Middleton’s Marriage Has Only Become ‘Stronger’ After Going Through ‘Exceptionally Tough Times’

Kate Middleton and Prince William have hit more than one rough patch over the last few years. While mourning the death of Queen Elizabeth and adjusting to their new roles as Prince and Princess of Wales would have been enough to stress out almost anyone, they’ve faced so much more since then, including Kate and King Charles each receiving a cancer diagnosis. Even though these challenges might have broken other couples, according to one royal expert, they have only brought Will and Kate closer together.

Royal correspondent Jennie Bond said that despite going through “exceptionally tough times,” Will and Kate’s relationship seems to be thriving.

“I think that has made their marriage even stronger,” she told Closer magazine this week. “We see them out and about in public touching one another tenderly and sharing private jokes. They laugh a lot.”

Although the media might have dubbed her “Waity Katey” for dating William as long as she did before they got engaged in 2010, Jennie claims that’s part of why they’ve been able to overcome whatever curveballs life throws their way.

“They kind of grew up together at university – as all undergraduates do,” she told the magazine. “They spent almost 10 years together before marrying. I think it is that strong friendship and understanding that has kept them so united through thick and thin.”

Jennie went on to say that having that extra time together allowed Kate to fully understand that “her husband’s destiny was mapped out before him,” and so would hers, which isn’t exactly something many people would be OK with. But Kate, having gone into the marriage with her eyes wide open, has taken it all in stride.

Knowing this, Jennie said she believes Kate is ready to help William modernize the monarchy when they take the throne in the future and that she will someday “make a graceful and much loved queen.”

“I think they are completely united in doing all they can to keep the monarchy connected with the younger generation,” she shared. “They look modern, they act modern. They are extremely comfortable wearing jeans and trainers on public visits, sitting on the floor with school kids or kicking a ball around with youngsters.”

Will the Waleses transform the monarchy? Only time will tell.
