Raven-Symoné is sharing her story about how body shaming led her to make decisions about her body. The Disney Channel star recently revealed that as a result of the body shaming she dealt with as a teen, she had several plastic surgeries while she was still a minor.

The procedures weren't her idea.
"I had two breast reductions and lipo before I turned 18," she shared during an episode of her and wife Miranda Pearman-Maday’s podcast.
She said she had the breast reduction done at the recommendation of her father, Christopher B. Pearman, due to the criticism she was facing because of her weight.
"There was paperwork involved," she said. "My dad suggested strongly that I should get my breasts reduced."
Symoné’s body was a subject of constant scrutiny during her time as a tween and teen while she starred on That’s So Raven and The Cheetah Girls.
She described the situation as a 'mess.'
She also said that her father asked her, "'So you don’t feel bad, is there anything that you want?'" to which she responded, "'Yeah, if I get lipo, will people stop calling me fat?'"
"So I got a twofer. It was just a mess, just being that young and the pain of it all," she shared.
She went on to explain that after her first breast reduction surgery, she suffered from a seizure. "I remember waking up and seeing everything … and then I just started to have this dry mouth and couldn’t breathe and went back under."
Her body wasn't done changing, and she went under the knife again.
She said that it "freaks her out a bit" knowing that she had an adverse reaction without any real explanation as to why.
Even after the scary ordeal, she felt like she had to undergo a second breast reduction because she felt her breasts were "still too big" because she gained weight again.
Because of what she's been through, Symoné went on to say that she believes women should allow their bodies to fully develop before undergoing plastic surgery.

She believes she made the right decision for her and her body.
Though she thinks she was too young to get the procedures done, she ultimately doesn’t regret her choices.
Speaking about her breasts, she said, "I don't know if I regret it because they grew back not to that big of a size."
"Did I prevent double Z's from happening rather than just sitting in a nice double D cup right now?" she added.
Raven was body-shamed at a young age because she was in the public eye.
This isn’t the first time Raven has been open about the body shaming she went through as a child star on TV.
On an episode of The View in 2015, she shared that the body shaming started when she was a kid on The Cosby Show.
"I remember people would be like, 'You can’t eat that. You’re getting fat!' I’m like, 'I’m 7! I’m hungry!'" she said.
