Travis Kelce Acted Like Frat Boy at Basketball Game & the Internet Is Divided on How Cringe It Was

When Taylor Swift announced her engagement to former Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce by saying her fans’ English teacher is marrying their gym teacher, you just knew the pair would continue to be 100% cringe. And when they appeared in Cleveland, Ohio at a Cavs game in the Playoffs and Kelce chugged beers in the crowd, they proved just that.

Now, people are calling out the former Super Bowl champion for his behavior as a grown adult who is past his mid-30’s. Does the criticism also stem from a place of being annoyed with him and Swift in general? Sure, it’s possible. But it’s also hard to ignore how incredibly uncomfy it is to watch a 36-year-old man chug a can of beer proudly.

Travis Kelce is just a frat boy at heart.

Apparently, despite never being part of a fraternity in college, Kelce is just a frat boy at heart. In footage from the game, which was shared on X (formerly Twitter), the user wrote, “Travis Kelce is a 36-year-old man, why is he acting like a 19-year-old at a frat party?” It’s a fair question, especially since he truly is not some young buck out at a game with his significant other. In the clip, Kelce proudly chugs from a can of beer while Swift watches on.

In response to the rhetorical question, someone wrote on X, “Because this is what people who are surrounded by far too much money, attention, and yes-men do.”

“His girlfriend caters to 13-19 year olds who think that’s cool,” a user also wrote. “He isn’t going to make football money doing podcasts.”

Another user commented, “It would have been fine if he didn’t make that face at the end.”

Someone else wrote their own assessment of Kelce, though they don’t really have any proof of their apparent mental diagnosis for him. “Peter Pan Syndrome,” they commented on X. “Dating Taylor Swift gives the outward appearance of being a grown man, but no.”

But Taylor Swift is also accused of acting far younger than she is.

Over the years, Swift’s music has evolved a bit, but for the most part, it has the same general message and she has fans that range in age from quite young elementary school-age level to grown adults. And, according to her critics on a Reddit post about Swift seeming afraid to age out of her demographic, people are in agreement that she caters to the younger crowd in a way that makes her look cringe. So maybe Swift and Kelce deserve each other?

“I’m curious what the overall impression of Taylor will be in five years if she keeps going on this trajectory of immaturity,” a user commented, in response to a video about her perceived immaturity as an artist. “Even this video tries to depict her as a young girl, mid-twenties. The closer she gets to 40 the less tolerable that becomes. A classic ‘live long enough to become the villain’ trope playing out in real life.”

Another Redditor wrote, “Her desperate attempts to cling onto every bit of relevancy are proof she so badly wants to hold onto youth. Compare her to any of her peers, nobody is this desperate to stay relevant and continue the ‘how do you do, fellow kids’ schtick like her.”

Yes, there are people unafraid to go against Swifties.

Despite there being millions of Swifties out there ready to defend Swift and Kelce to the ends of the Earth, there are surprisingly large numbers of people who also want to see the couple called out for immaturity and cringe behavior. However, after some users agreed on the X post about Kelce’s immature behavior as a frat boy, others defended him, likely because of his proximity to Swift.

“Is this the first time you’ve seen a person older than 19 chugging a beer?” An X user questioned the person who made the original post critiquing Kelce.

Another person wrote, “He’s a multi-millionaire who is with one of the most famous women on the planet. The decisions he’s made in his life have led to more success than the decisions you’ve made. People need to stop crying about everything damn. Live your own life.”
