Anyone with eczema will tell you that flare-ups are the worst. When it happens, it can take over your entire world — all you want is a little relief. But once that itchy, irritating feeling subsides, the problem isn't totally resolved. The reason? If you've vigorously scratched, you may have caused some unsightly scars. It's a common issue for eczema sufferers. Don't fret. Here are 7 simple solutions for making your eczema-prone skin beautiful again.
- Oatmeal isn't just the perfect breakfast food. It can do wonders for your scarred skin too. And you don't have to purchase some pricey product to get the benefits. Just buy oats from your local grocery store and mince them with a coffee grinder. Then just add to a warm bath and be sure to soak for a half hour.
- Cocoa butter has amazing healing properties. Massage it onto your skin in the morning and at night before bed to give your skin a healthy glow. The scars will fade in no time.
- Aloe vera gel is a miracle worker when it comes to lightening dark scars. It acts as an anti-inflammatory and an antimicrobial, which helps with irritation. Mix with vitamin E to make it an especially effective remedy.
- Baking soda makes quite a nice exfoliant. It is superb at getting rid of dead skin cells. Just mix with water to create a paste and massage onto the problem area for a few minutes, then wash off.
- Apple cider vinegar is another surprising fix. It contains both anti-fungal and antibacterial agents that help reduce scars. If you can get over the sour smell, this could be the answer you need. Mix with water and dab it directly on the skin and the marks will gradually disappear.
- Putting fresh lemon on your scars twice a day will brighten the affected area. The vitamin C helps create new skin cells. Just leave the juice on for a few minutes before rinsing off.
- Enriched with vitamins E and A, shea butter is incredibly good for the skin. Make a paste of it with lemon juice, rub it on, and leave overnight. Your skin will begin to rejuvenate and the scars will gradually vanish.
Another helpful tip: use sunscreen if you plan to soak up some rays. Otherwise, the scars will darken.
