Embarrassing confession: my ankles swell…a lot…particularly when it's warm and humid. And guess what it's been in my neck of the woods lately? Yep. Warm and humid. Ugh. Cankles. I envy women with skinny little ankles. I've always said if I could get the fat sucked out of mine, I would. OK, I wouldn't — but I'd love to know some cures besides compression socks.
So I tried a peppermint foot soak, which isn't just great for ladies like me. Even the skinny ankled mamas will find this soak refreshing. And now that a lot of us are wearing sandals and flip flops, it's great to freshen up your feet before bed. I know know about you, but walking around the city with half naked feet make my tootsies dirty.
Recipezaar has a great concoction that smells great and does the trick. The peppermint and Epsom salts help reduce swelling and gets rid of odor.
You will need:
-
1/2 cup Epsom salts
-
5 drops peppermint extract or 3 teabags of pure peppermint tea bags
-
For a little extra, use 3 drops tea tree oil and 3 drops lavender oil
How to prepare:
If you are using tea bags, boil water and steep tea in large mug for 5 minutes. In a large basin or foot soak tub, add tea (or peppermint extract), salt, and oils (if using) to very warm water. Test water to make sure it's not too hot. Soak for at least 10 minutes. I like to do a quick rinse in cold water, then dry, and apply lotion.
Have you ever tried a peppermint foot soak recipe?
