It's the holidays, and at the top of your gift-giving list are your beloved coven members. But sticks of sage and fancy crystals are so passé. Besides, they already have tons of them at their altar. If you're looking for seriously unique gifts for the conjurers in your life (or for yourself!), here's a list of great products to invite the divine energies into your magical workings.
Remember, witchcraft is for everyone, so this list is designed to appeal to magicians of all spiritual practices. Even if you're a die-hard Wiccan, there are lessons to be learned from Santería and Jewish mysticism. Let your heart enjoy the teachings of the hidden world.
Luiny Turbo Shell Earrings, $65, Bona Drag
A beautiful gift for sea witches and water signs, these earrings are handmade with real seashells and sterling silver posts, so they will last through life's many waves. Each earring is different, and they will look beautiful as a pair or wearing one on its own.
Tarot Deck Candle, $38, Catbird NYC
This is, hands-down, one of the best scented soy candles on the market. And I should know, I've smelled a lot of candles in my day. Catbird describes the notes as "incense, Turkish rose, and pencil shavings," with a hint of "dry musk of labdanum." In other words, it smells like the delirium of a tarot trance. Highly recommended.
Pamela Love Luna Ring, $125, Pamela Love
If you want to splurge on the magician in your life, let me suggest this beautiful Pamela Love ring. The Luna ring is composed of brass with two crescent moons framing an inner milky moonstone. Your magical loved one will treasure this forever. The Luna ring is also available in a peachy-red moonstone.
(Sadly, the pentacle ring is an older Pamela Love style and has long since been discontinued.)
Spellbound Sky Ritual Kit, $56–$70, Whitney Museum Store
Spellbound Sky is one of my must-visit shops in Los Angeles. It's a crystals and metaphysics store owned by two queer men of color, and walking in feels like entering a mystical gallery. The store also creates their own ritual candles and hosts community events. If you can't visit Spellbound Sky in person, you can pick up one of their spell kits here, from the Whitney Museum store.
Dark Goddess Craft by Stephanie Woodfield, paperback for $14.14, Amazon
Forget what you know about Mother Earth — this book takes you into the underworld of femme goddesses who, for one reason or another, have been cast aside. The book spans several religions and magical traditions.
Magic of I. 2020 Astrological Planner, $45, Catland Books
For your favorite witch who loves to be organized (Virgos and Capricorns, I see you!) and witches who need to be more organized (Leos and Aquarians, hello!), the Magic of I. astrological planner is an absolute requirement. It's the most beautiful planner I've ever seen. Its tough, substantial cover will last you an entire year, with delicate artwork that will inspire your senses. There are monthly and weekly spaces, as well as moon phase icons, astrological planetary charts, menstrual cycle tracker, and tons of intention spaces. I'm thrilled to start my 2020 journey with this planner, and your lucky witch will too.
Moon Void Tarot by Stefanie Caponi, $40, Catland Books
There are many beautiful tarot card decks, but the Moon Void Tarot by Stefanie Caponi is especially fun, precious, and spooky. The black and white artwork is great for folks who are colorblind or need high-contrast reading materials, and the drawings will awaken your divinatory intuition.
Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde Palette, $67, Sephora
Mercury retrograde doesn't have to suck when you have this stunning Huda Beauty palette. The shimmers, metals, and mattes come in a lovely astrological-inspired color story, all in Huda's sumptuous eye shadow formula.
Brass Pentacle Cauldron, $18, The Hoodwitch
Every witch and wizard needs a cauldron, so hook up your spell-caster with this tiny cauldron complete with an embossed pentacle. Light a charcoal disk, sprinkle in your favorite herb mixture and powdered incense, and enjoy the scents of another plane.
Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum, $25.49 down from $33.99, Ulta Beauty
Forget the stereotypes: Skin care witches have silky, glowing faces thanks to the Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum, which is cruelty-free and uses only scientifically-proven ingredients — none of that extra stuff. Ulta is currently running a deal on the product, so stock up before the next full moon.
Mini Oshun Orisha Candle, $4.50, My Mystical Marketplace
Brujas and curanderas know that Oshun, an orisha (spirit) in Afro-Caribbean Yoruba religions, is the orisha to pray to for matters of the heart, fertility, beauty, and prosperity — all things that we could use in abundance in 2020. Light this candle, say your prayers, and let Oshun work her magic.
Nature Nature Resin Incense, $7.95–$9.95, Amazon
OK, look. Nature Nature Resin Incense is THE best incense brand. It just is. Please take my word on this. I know you stan your bodega Nag Champa sticks (and I love them too!), but Nature Nature blows all other incense brands into dust. The handmade sticks are coated in pure resins, giving you unparalleled scent strength as well as complexity in the notes. In other words, they won't smell like every other stick of incense. My personal favorite scents are the frankincense and myrrh Greek blend and Jasmine. One stick will scent a room within minutes.
Benedicere Fine Art Print by Krist Mort, $32.22+, Etsy
Elevate your magician's spirit with a fine art print. I bought this print by artist Krist Mort a couple of years ago and people always ask me where I got it when they visit my home. It's inspiring art that will get you in the mood to work your craft.
Lio & Linn Salt Cellar with Moon Spoon, $40, Asrai Garden
Excuse me, how cute is this salt cellar? I'm a fan of rock salt and very tiny things, so this little vessel is filling me with glee. Use it to hold your favorite Himalayan salt crystals, dried herbs, or loose leaf teas. I've recently become obsessed with Anastasia Black by Kusmi.
Kabbalistic Teachings of the Female Prophets: The Seven Holy Women of Ancient Israel by J. Zohara Meyerhoff Hieronimus, paperback for $6.95, Amazon
Get the real scoop on the seven prophetesses of ancient Israel: Sarah, Miriam, Devorah, Chanah, Avigail, Chuldah, and Esther, and learn about how their teachings and visions can apply to Judaism today. You don't need to be well-versed in the Kabbalah to understand the book — the concepts are explained along with the teachings.
Revelist was gifted the products from Mad Hippie and Magic of I. free of charge, but that in no way influences the way we comment on or review them.
