Finding the perfect wedding venue is often a long process. There are so many things to think about: price, the number of guests it holds, and of course, overall vibe. One bride-to-be thought she had found the perfect venue for her upcoming wedding, but she was shocked to find it wasn’t quite what she had envisioned.
It’s not that the venue was lacking, it was a victim of false advertising. Instead of contacting the winery she was interested in, she end up corresponding with a place offering dolphin encounters!

The wedding planning process isn’t for the weak.
Australian influencer Georgia Clay has been diligently planning her wedding. But it seems that the bride-to-be has been having trouble finding the perfect venue for her big day. So when a winery caught her eye, she knew that she had to reach out and get more information.
After sending multiple emails with no luck, she kind of moved on. The email response she received wasn’t anything she could have anticipated.
Clay shared the update to her many TikTok followers. “A lot of you have asked how my hunt for the perfect wedding is going,” the bride wrote over a picture of a lush outdoor wedding venue. In the next slide, she shared a screenshot of the email exchange.
“Hi Georgia,” the email began. “Are you trying to make contact with Polperro Winery? We are Polperro Dolphin Swims,” it continued.
That was definitely not the response she was expecting!
Apparently, the dolphin encounter is also on the Mornington Peninsula in Melbourne. It has been in operation for over 30 years, joking that “the winery stole our name.”
“We can take you for a dolphin swim, but we are not a wedding venue,” the employee wrote. It seemed that the bride was back to where she started. But she is thinking about taking them up on the offer. “I low key want to book a dolphin swim here now — absolutely loved their reply,” she captioned the post.
People had the best responses to the mix-up.
“Invested in the beef between the dolphin swim place and the winery tbh,” one person commented.
“Ask if they have a dolphin available to officiate the wedding,” another suggested.
“Hahaha I feel like you have to go dolphin swimming now!” someone else wrote.
“Vote for the dolphin swim post wedding,” another comment reads.

The bride is taking it all in stride.
Clay spoke with Newsweek about the hilarious situation, and she is keeping it light. “When I got the reply, I was on the bus on the way to work and I started laughing out loud; it was so embarrassing! But I was like this is amazing!” she said.
Both Clay and Polperro Dolphin Swims have been getting a kick out of sharing the mix-up on social media, she said. The bride-to-be added that she loves “seeing people in the comments saying it made their day or tagging their friends,” because she wants to “bring joy and positivity to my community’s life, and I think this achieved that.”
But what happened with her wedding venue?
As for Polperro Winery, Clay said she reached out to the company about the link issue, and it was all good. “They were super nice and thankful about it,” she shared.
Ultimately, she ended up going with a different venue altogether. “There are plenty of dolphins down that way so I would love to incorporate them in some way or another!” She also shared that she is thinking about taking a trip to Polperro Dolphin Swims soon, because “the team seems really nice, and I think it would be hilarious to make a follow-up video showing that we went there.”
“I think it would be super funny to include some pictures of us there on our wedding website or invitations,” she quipped.
