Lipstick is usually pretty low maintenance and painless. That is, unless you bought one of Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics' recently released formulas. And as if the accusations and allegations couldn't get any worse, Twitter now thinks it's found proof that Hill knew about her lipstick defects long before they officially launched.
The evidence is compelling and has the now controversial YouTuber back in hot water. Will this be the final nail in the coffin of Hill recalling her long-awaited products?
Jaclyn Hill's lipstick release may go down as the most controversial influencer brand launch ever.
And that's no exaggeration. From allegations of poor manufacturing to buyers saying they broke out in rashes, the Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics slander hasn't stopped since the moment the slew of nude lipsticks were released. However, through it all, Hill has maintained that she had no clue of the many oversights that came with creation and distribution of the lipsticks.
But Twitter has unearthed evidence that Hill's claim of innocence might not be genuine.
Fans have rehashed a video that they think proves Hill knew all along about the lipstick issues, in particular the fuzzies.
"So even here on her personal lipsticks during the swatching even she had fuzzies on As If. At that point it would have been smart to check the lab for any problems," someone said alongside a screen recording of one of Hill's old Instagram Stories.
And while some say the blame remains with the factory, this video does suggest that Hill is a guilty party, too.
"I’m sure she checked what she was sent but that’s the labs job to handle mass quality control you put your trust in them and it was clearly a misjudgment there, but they’re trying to correct it by changing labs. It’s unfortunate for all involved," someone tweeted in defense of Hill after seeing the uncovered Instagram Story.
So was what Hill saw out of the ordinary for a lipstick manufacturer? Should she have taken greater action to control the product quality?
Though she said that the lipstick had long been in her collection, and what she found could have easily been harmless, some people don't think so. Some have gone so far as to say that the deliveries sent to fans may have been from the older batch Hill was using.
"She knew and didn’t give a s*** about the people that would be buying them like that. She’s a [snake]," someone accused.
Things get worse from there.
Popular influencer Pretty Pastel Please said she found metal in her lipsticks and that she would be posting a video all about it.
"I've been editing this Jaclyn Hill Lipstick video for two days now… it's absolutely insane. I found metal, plastic, black hairs, and more in my lipstick, and i'm trying to cut down the four hours of footage. I don't want to cut out too much, but I don't want it to be a movie," she said.
Pretty Pastel Please urged the brand to recall the lipsticks after allegedly finding metal inside.
"When I found metal in my @jaclyncosmetics lipstick it almost brought me to tears. It pains me to think that she still hasn't recalled something so dangerous. Please watch my video to inform yourself and others of the danger," she captioned the revealing and terrifying video.
So was everything Hill said in her explanation video a lie?
As more information is revealed, it kind of seems that way.
"Also how was everything for the entire launch manufactured LAST MONTH, literally the month before the launch. if this is something you've worked on for 5 YEARS the products shouldn't showcase work as if you did it overnight," someone questioned.
