This Jaclyn Hill lipstick situation just isn't going to let up, is it? The bright side of all the mess is that Hill and her team are actually on the case to find out about every single issue with her lipsticks. Unfortunately, a person who allegedly works in a science lab may have beaten Hill to the punch.
The individual, Betty Wilder, declined to provide any specific details about her identity and/or credentials to Revelist. The most she would reveal is that she allegedly does testing in the food industry. Wilder revealed via Twitter that she used her tools to test Jaclyn Hill lipsticks for mold and found something very alarming. More important, Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics has responded to her alleged findings.
Sheesh. Let's get into this right now.
In the wake of Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics lipstickgate, Wilder allegedly began testing different lipsticks from the brand to confirm whether or not the mold concerns are valid.
Per her findings, mold was allegedly found in the cap of a single Jaclyn Hill lipstick.
"6/21/19 10:05pm CDT 72 hour microbial check. Preliminary positive yeast/mold results on lid sample of JCGC05AHT. This is from a swab of the cap of a component. NO Lipstick samples are showing any growth. Will recheck in 24 hours," her tweet reads.
The alleged mold confirmation in the cap sent Twitter into a frenzy of speculation on top of the existing speculation.
Wilder opted to provide her findings and withhold any theories or additional observations.
"So is it possible that the actual components sat for too long through the divorce and weren't sanitized thoroughly before mass production started, which in turn contaminated the actual lipstick, or do you think the formula may be compromised as well?" one person questioned.
"I'm withholding speculation at this point," Wilder asserted.
Apparently, Wilder's alleged observations were valid enough to warrant an email directly from Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics. The brand requested a copy of her findings.
"We're reaching out about the So Rich Lipstick testing you've shared on social media. Jaclyn Cosmetics takes product safety very seriously, and we'd love an opportunity to dig deeper into the findings," the brand wrote to Wilder. "Can you please share the full report of testing with us so we can conduct a full investigation? If you could also share your order confirmation with us, that would help us to better identify the lipsticks in question. Thanks so much. We look forward to hearing from you."
Honey.
Although Wilder didn't share an actual screenshot of her response, she did write what her response was on Twitter.
"I heard Ms. Hill is paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to conduct her own testing. Certainly, that will suffice to provide you with answers to any questions you may have," Wilder replied. "If you have any further questions about sufficient quality-control measures for future launches, you may inquire about my consulting fees."
Um, welp! There's that. It looks like Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics may not be getting its hands on Wilder's mold findings anytime soon.
People are applauding Wilder for doing what they see as standing up to Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics.
"You. Are. My. Hero. You told them to do their own testing or pay you for your time and to keep it boujee that made my entire morning. Wow," a person wrote. Hey, business is business. Bottom line: Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics still has more investigating to do.
For full clarity, it has not been 100% verified that Wilder is indeed a professional qualified to conduct such mold testing. That said, she explained that she does work in the food industry, which means it's very possible that she is indeed qualified to test for mold. No facts have been confirmed. What matters is that Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics was shook enough to reach out.
Some fans feel that Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics' email simply reflects laziness.
"So they want someone else to do the work for them? That's interesting… They have some at their warehouse. Why can't they do testing on their own?" a person questioned.
To be fair, Wilder did find only one mold result on one lipstick cap out of the different ones she tested. Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics could properly test their lipsticks in the warehouse and not come up with the same result.
Meanwhile, other critics believe Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics has motives outside of wanting Wilder's findings to improve their investigation.
"They don’t want to identify the lipsticks with her order number. They want to identify her. This is a ploy to find out her real identity so they can serve her with a cease and desist or a lawsuit," one person wrote.
We're not saying this theory is valid. We're not saying it ain't. All we're saying is that tea tastes very good when you make it right. Byeeeeee.
