If you thought Jeffree Star was going to fall apart for good over his beloved Magic Star Concealer hitting the internet prematurely, then try again. Jeffree Star, his investigative team, and allegedly the FBI are on the leaked concealer case!
The beauty mogul initially revealed that something bigger and much more "horrific" happened to his brand in connection with the initially leaked concealer. He hinted that the true backstory about how his concealer made it to the Facebook Marketplace would blow our wigs all the way back and he was beyond correct.
First of all, Jeffree Star's concealer wasn't just leaked. A Jeffree Star Cosmetics warehouse was also robbed of millions of dollars worth of makeup!
While Star was away in Dallas hosting makeup lessons with his bestie, Lipstick Nick, something very terrible was happening to his brand that no one should ever have to experience.
"I haven’t told anyone this yet. Just me, my team, and my family know," Star described.
"Two weeks ago, the morning of March 15, I uploaded the reveal video for the Blue Blood collection. That night around 1 AM, one of my stock and shipping facility warehouses was broken into and over $2.5 million of product was stolen from me."
He specifically noted that the robbers were black market dealers.
"This is the biggest theft I have ever experienced in my entire career," he shared on his YouTube channel.
"This is the biggest hit as a brand. I am still shocked about the entire thing. So I am going to explain to you the details because this weekend, a photo popped up online."
Unlike the rest of the beauty community, Star wasn't surprised by the Magic Star Concealers popping up online over the past weekend. He was expecting them and hoping to follow the trail!
"I was waiting. It’s been about two weeks now since the burglary and I have been waiting for this moment," he explained. "I have been sitting here like, ‘When is it going to pop up online? Are they going to try to sell it? What are they going to do?' "
Star knew that the internet would be his best help with catching the burglars who stole his products because the robbery was too skilled an operation.
"These people were professional," Star said.
"I fully believe it was an inside job. I think it was someone who temporarily worked there who tipped them off."
Remember the massive Jeffree Star Cosmetics warehouse tour we saw during Shane Dawson's YouTube series?
"In the main building that you saw in the Shane series last summer, you saw a very big glimpse into one of my warehouses," Star recounted. "We have now several buildings in that complex, and one of them was not secure enough. I am so horrified that someone knew it wasn’t secure enough yet and they hit us really hard."
"They came in through the roof," Star described.
"It was a team of people. When you watch footage of this stuff, it is so gut-wrenching to see people just take your sh** and put it in a truck and steal something that I have been working on for so long."
According to Star, the robbers took a little bit of everything.
"I get news some of the Northern Lights highlighter palettes were stolen. My entire shipment of new Platinum Ice, which was about 5,000 units … They took thousands of lip liners and they took an entire shade of f****** concealer."
Jeffree Star confirmed the Magic Star Concealer in the shade C5 is what leaked online.
"So shade C5, I have a few hundred left. They took thousands of these and I can’t believe it," he said.
Nevertheless, Star is still confident about his concealer and looking forward to being able to launch C5 along with 29 other shades.
"I have 30 plus shades in this amazing line. I am so proud of it," he gushed in the video. "The formula is unreal and I am so excited for you guys to experience it later this month. I didn’t plan on talking about it or showing things off today, but hi, things happen.”
But that doesn't mean he isn't clapping back at the people who violated his business.
"I have hired a whole entire investigative team to help me with law enforcement. We are in contact with the FBI who are fully being amazing."
According to Star, they have already thrown one person in jail in connection to the robbery thanks to those trusty internet leaks.
"The picture that a lot of you saw online was from a girl that stole the original picture [from another person]," Star explained. "My investigator saw this photo. We have been working [with] law enforcement and we actually tracked down this person. This person is now in jail currently while we investigate how they got access to my product to illegally sell it."
Okurrrt? Come through, law enforcement! Come through, internet!
Jeffree Star also had words for the young lady who recirculated his Magic Star Concealer and tried to sell it in a Facebook makeup group.
"The girl that leaked the photo is part of the problem," Star stated. "Because she hit up the black market dealer on Facebook, stole that person’s photo, and then posted it in a Facebook makeup group going, 'Hi. Who wants this?’ The black market person told her, 'We can give you as much as you want. We have it early.'"
"Common sense says maybe run away from that," Star vented. "That’s like illegal drugs. Like, makeup is a hot commodity. If I’ve never shown anything. If I’ve never talked about something and somebody is holding it before me, you know it’s wrong. But this girl took it upon herself to post it and spread it all over Facebook saying that she was going to sell it as well."
For clarity, the young woman did admit she was wrong and offer up a lengthy apology on Facebook.
The name of this Facebook user has been redacted to prevent any bullying or threats of physical harm.
"I posted it, I'm not going to sit here and play innocent. It's not who I am," the alleged makeup reseller wrote on Facebook. "If I did wrong I'm going to face it. I just needed time to process and think about what I actually did. I want to state I meant ABSOLUTELY no harm from posting that picture. I see and know now it was wrong."
But Jeffree Star will hear none of it.
"That girl has since put up some dumb apology," he shared in his video. "She knew exactly what she was doing. She got in trouble, so now she’s trying to backtrack."
To Star's credit, it is very strange to leak an unreleased product of a person you claim to be a fan of.
The Facebook user probably didn't know that Jeffree Star had been robbed, but as he iterated, if he hasn't announced a launch or a date, then there is something very off about someone else having his product available for sale. If you're a fan of someone and you know they have a product coming out, why would you leak that product and then try to make money off of it?
I would never do that to Beyoncé. Or Rihanna. I'm just saying.
Thankfully, Jeffree Star is both rich and insured.
"Good news is, a b**** has full coverage insurance so every single unit that was stolen from me, I will get the money back. Thank you God that the system works sometimes," Star confirmed.
Star also assured fans that not even a $2.5 million setback will ruin the launch he prepared for them.
"It’s not going to ruin my launch," he shared. "I want to control my reveal and I still can. The launch will be later in April. I am so proud of it. I cannot wait for you guys to touch and play with the formulas and see the full story of all 30 concealer shades and everything else."
