Magical Makeup Artists Have Transformed Themselves Into ’The Little Mermaid’ Characters

Disney fans are chomping at the bit to find out the finalized cast for the upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid

Halle Bailey, Jacob Tremblay, Awkwafina, and most likely Melissa McCarthy have already signed on to the project. And initial reports suggested that Harry Styles would play the charming Prince Eric, but apparently he turned down the offer.

With all of this talk surrounding the characters of the iconic film, makeup artists have been inspired to re-create their looks. The following are some of the best and most realistic designs so far.

This subtle wing eyeliner looks exactly like Ariel's emerald green tail.

This inspired eye look features an exact replica of Ariel's mermaid tail. The young princess ditches the tail for two feet when she falls in love with human Prince Eric. But in order for the sea witch Ursula to grant her wish, it requires giving up her beautiful voice.

Disney needs to hire this makeup artist for her hyperrealistic Ursula and Ariel re-creation.

Using prosthetics and fake blood, this artist turned Ursula into an even more menacing villain. By overexaggerating the white eyeliner on the model portraying Ariel, it gives off the Disney cartoon effect. "Life's full of tough choices, isn't it? Disney makeup look? Who is she! Swipe right to see the Ariel @monriide for my Ursula and the octupus prosthetic," the artist wrote on Instagram.

Who said this sea flower Ariel often wears in her hair isn't a character?

This artist was inspired by the stunning coral flower Ariel wears behind her ear. "I chose the Hibiscus Flower & Coral for its vibrant colors and created this look! Beauties, how did I do? This was my first attempt at drawing with makeup," the Instagram artist wrote. I'd say for a first try, this was a stellar job.

I predict many Flounder and Ariel duo Halloween costumes this year, and this makeup look could help you pull it off.

This makeup artist re-created Flounder's yellow and blue colors as diamond-shaped scales along the sides of the face. Plus, a vibrant eyeshadow look with the same colors pulled it all together. Ariel's frightened best friend is always getting into mischief with her, but stays by her side through it all.

Another character totally worthy of a makeup look is Ariel's demanding father, King Triton.

This makeup look features Triton's magnificent crown, but no triton. The stunning lines and cut creases in this eyeshadow look are on point. Plus, it is blended to perfection featuring all of King Triton's necessary colors.

No matter your hair or skin tone, red brows are necessary to re-create an animated Ariel.

This woman has Ariel's unmistakable fiery red hair and shaded in her brows to match. "This look is dedicated to the 5 year old me, who always wanted to be a mermaid when she grows up, the artist wrote. The purple and green hues are also reminiscent of the iconic mermaid's costume.

This step-by-step tutorial to create a Flounder fish with eye shadow is so helpful, especially with Halloween coming up.

Sport this creative eye shadow look while at various Halloween parties, or whenever the live-action cast finally gets approved. Jacob Tremblay is most likely playing the friendly fish, but we have no idea who could play Prince Eric. Harry Styles turned down the role, and now fans are theorizing who it could potentially be.

Another inanimate object worthy of a makeup look is Ariel's purple seashell bra.

Every mermaid sister has their own color scheme, and Ariel's is green and purple with that fiery red hair. This eye shadow look is inspired by her color palette and shows off a glittery purple seashell directly in the center. It's unclear if the live-action version of the film will draw inspiration from the animated version's costuming, and only time will tell.

This person re-created Halle Bailey's version of Ariel, and it just made me so much more excited for the movie.

One person used the fan art that Halle Bailey shared featuring a black Ariel. Casting Halle Bailey has opened up a world of possibilities for people who haven't ever seen a character like this look like them. This makeup artist created a stunning mermaid makeup look, complete with a starfish, a crown, and a gold seashell bra.

Grab your violet face paint, because it's time to re-create Ursula as a makeup look. This artist created the over-the-top look with high arched brows, a massive blue eye shadow look, and tentacles painted onto their décolletage. To take it one step further, the artist edited their hair to look white like the sea witch.

This adorable duo is exactly the wholesome content needed in this lineup.

Flounder eye shadow with a Sebastian over the brow is an adorable look that draws inspiration straight from the movie. The artist captioned the photo with one of Sebastian's lines in "Under the Sea." "The human world is a mess, life under the sea is better than anything they got up there," they wrote.

If anyone looks the most like the animated Ariel, it's surely Madelaine Petsch, and Patrick Starrr's YouTube video proved that.

Patrick Starrr gave Madelaine Petsch the ultimate Little Mermaid makeover, and she didn't even need a red wig. The animated Ariel lookalike also wore the iconic purple seashell bra and had on purple-inspired eye shadow. The makeup artist completed the entire full-glam look and shared that his inspiration was the animated Disney princess.
