Parents Create a ‘Candy Slide’ for Safe Trick-or-Treating Just in Time To Save Halloween

This year, Halloween is going to be different — the current health crisis has made sure of that. But that doesn’t mean it won’t be fun. You can still get a perfect family Halloween costume. And yes, you absolutely need to decorate the house for some added joy in the neighborhood. If you’re really feeling up to a challenge, make your trick-or-treat plan for this year with a social-distancing twist by using this handy hack that will allow you to hand out treats without needeing to get too close. Two words, ladies and gentlemen: candy slide.

This project is just as rad as it sounds.

How could YouTubers Jamie and Jay go wrong with a candy slide? They shared the project Friday on their YouTube page, Wicked Makers.

Making the slide will take a little DIY know-how.

Yes, the projects calls for a hacksaw or some power tools, but that doesn't mean it is necessarily hard. It requires some PVC pipes, PVC connectors, a hot glue gun, and decorations once the base of the slide has been built.

The best part of the project might be getting to decorate.

The parents of two decided to go with a skeleton theme for their slide, but this slide would lend itself to any Halloween-y idea such as witches, dragons, or even one long, snake candy slide.

Once the slide is finished, it’s time for the fun part.

Using kids from their quarantine bubble, the duo showed off how to drop a treat into one end of the slide and have it drop 6 feet away.

Now just imagine if others in the neighborhood made their own candy slides.

Wouldn’t that be great? As many parents are trying to come up with a safe way to have a sense of normalcy and holiday fun without completely ditching all holiday traditions, it’s time to get a little creative.

Whether you’re choosing to do trunk or treat or prefer to sit out this Halloween because of virus concerns, as long as you and your kids wear a mask, observe social distancing, and wash your hands when you get home, the candy slide might provide a solution to celebrating Halloween this year.
