When it comes to milestones such as giving birth or getting married, having family support can be crucial. A pregnant woman on Reddit was expecting her sister and other family members to be there for her when she welcomed her second child. She was also hoping to attend that sister’s upcoming wedding.
Now, it seems neither will be possible, as her sister is planning on having her wedding ceremony just a couple days after her due date.

Originally, the woman’s sister planned to have her wedding in the Caribbean.
The woman told her sister, however, that she wouldn’t be able to travel to the Caribbean because she’s expecting her second child around that time, she explained in a since-deleted Reddit post. At that point, she didn’t tell her sister to change her plans. Instead, she told her “she just needs to do what makes her happy.” But her sister insisted that she couldn’t “have a wedding without me there” and said she would make some changes to her wedding plans.
The changes still won’t work for the woman.
The woman’s sister did, indeed, change her plans – but not in a way that works for her. Instead of having her wedding in the Caribbean, she plans to have it in France. Her sister also changed the date of her wedding, and it will take place “two days after our baby’s due date.”

The date is inconvenient for many reasons.
Given that she is expecting to give birth to her second child around the time of the wedding, the woman doesn’t think she’ll be able to attend the ceremony. Additionally, her sister likely won’t be able to visit her when she welcomes her child into the world.
Because the whole family will be at her sister’s wedding, she has no idea who will watch their 5-year-old son while she is in labor. “My mom is very close to my son and he isn’t used to staying with anyone outside of me, my husband or my mom overnight,” the woman explained.
She asked her sister to change the date of the wedding ceremony.
Confused and understandably kind of hurt and angry, she asked her sister if she could have her wedding at a different time. “Honestly, could she have not picked any other week in the year?” she wondered. For some reason, her sister did not want to change the date of the celebration.
Redditors sided with the woman and encouraged her to go ‘no contact’ with her sister.
Many of the Redditors who reacted to the post could not believe what the woman has been dealing with.
“Booking the wedding two days after your due date means she effectively ensured you couldn’t attend and also left you without critical family support during labor,” one person wrote. “That feels, at the very least, extremely inconsiderate. Your mother choosing the wedding over being there for you is also painful, and it’s valid to feel hurt.”
“Your sister really knows how to prioritize! Nothing says I love you like planning a wedding during your sister’s labor,” another person responded.
A third Redditor wrote, “I’d say a wedding could be postponed, your delivery cannot.”
