There is plenty of information out there about how bad vaping is. But despite that, many people, including children, still use vape devices. Sometimes, it could be against their will. One mom is speaking out after her elementary school-aged child, who attends Wisconsin Conservatory of Lifelong Learning, was allegedly forced to vape.
Now, she is desperately trying to get answers about how this happened, and she is making it clear that she isn’t going to just go away.
A teacher at Wisconsin Conservatory of Lifelong Learning reached out to TMJ4 News reporter Jenna Rae to share a shocking video. A K-5 child could be seen vaping, allegedly by force. The reporter was then connected to the child’s mother, who opened up about the situation.
“My daughter told me, and then my niece had said there’s a video, and I was like ‘get the video,'” the mother told Rae.
Currently, the mother is choosing to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation.
“By kids, parents, the world we live in right now. It’s just not safe at all, and I’m not trying to put my kids in no type of [harm’s] way,” the mom said.
Since the video was shared, the mom reached out to both WCLL and the Milwaukee Public Schools’ central office. She’s still trying to get answers about how the incident took place.
“Why was my son in the bathroom unattended. He don’t know better,” she said. Her 5-year-old child is also in a special education class. So she says he “doesn’t really know what’s what.” In her mind, her child should have been supervised “at all times.”
TMJ4 News reached out to the school for comment. The news station also asked if the students involved were facing disciplinary action.
“MPS takes student health and safety very seriously. We were concerned by what we saw in this video when it was reported to us earlier this week,” a spokesperson said. The school is “taking all appropriate steps to ensure this incident is addressed according to our policies and procedures for everyone involved. We are also actively reviewing this incident to see what lessons can be learned to prevent it from happening again.”
Now, the mom says she’s lost faith and trust in the school and the district.
“When I let my kids walk in that door, ain’t no telling what’s gonna happen to them. They not safe, I don’t have no type of peace of mind when they at school. It’s like a win-lose situation,” she said.
