A court in California convicted a stepmother from Anaheim, of torture and being positively evil to her stepdaughter, who allegedly told the woman just how she felt about her. Mayra Chavez, 35, abused the 10-year-old girl so severely that a nurse reportedly said it was the worst case of child abuse she had ever seen.
In addition finding her guilty of abusing the 10-year-old, a court also convicted Chavez of abusing three other children in her family. She will serve the next 15 years in prison for the heinous crimes against innocent children.

Chavez reportedly tortured the young girl.
The abuse was positively horrific. According to City News Service, per ABC 7, when the young girl was taken to the hospital, she had a broken neck and bruises from head to toe. The news station shared heartbreaking images of the child.
The evil stepmother broke the child's neck and then rubbed habanero pepper in her eyes, according to the Mirror. The girl reportedly told the woman, "I hope you die.
Chavez and the girl's father continually abused the girl.
The abuse was some of the worst law enforcement had ever seen. Chavez and the girl's father, Domingo Junior Flores, reportedly got other children in the home involved in the abuse, according to City News Service. He also faces charges of child abuse and torture, but his trial has not yet been scheduled.
Deputy District Attorney Bethel Cope-Vega said the girl was zip-tied to furniture and only allowed to eat oatmeal. Sometimes her siblings had to spoon-feed her; in essence, they were participating in the torture.
In court, Chavez reportedly denied the abuse and said the girl was a problematic child and hurt herself.
"This was not a child, this was a crime scene," the prosecutor said. "This is not something (the victim) did to herself as Ms. Chavez told you."
The medical team who cared for the child described her as sweet and caring.
The girl required plastic surgery on her face and couldn't walk for nine months after multiple knee surgeries, per City News Service. Although Chavez said the girl was difficult, Cope-Vega said doctors and nurses who treated her testified that she was sweet and "she wanted was to be hugged and loved."
The extended family said the images are devastating.
An uncle, known only as Walter, told ABC 7 the photos are difficult to look at. "You're hearing all of these details and it's gruesome. You don't wish that upon anybody," he said.
An aunt, Levit, said she and Walter contacted the authorities, which ultimately led to Chavez's conviction. "It's hard because we didn't know certain things that were happening or else we probably would not have allowed them," she said.

The girl's biological mother wanted her back.
According to City News Service, the girl's biological mother tried to get custody of her daughter but was allegedly denied by the family court and considered a troublesome ex. She told City News Service, "I'm happy we're together again finally. I am very happy to give them what they need."
She added that life will be challenging. "It changes you — you become sad because those are your babies," the mother said. "Now they have to make double the effort just to try to be normal."
