Mom Is Accused of Stabbing 7-Year-Old Son Because He Made a Mess in Her Clean House

Chicago-area mom Llovana Torres is facing charges after allegedly stabbing her son. The boy reportedly made a mess in the house, and it sent her over the edge. There are likely plenty of moms who have felt rage at their kids for making a mess. But acting on those feelings may now land the mom in prison. Her son is now in the hospital after having emergency surgery because of his injuries. Right now, investigators are still figuring out what will happen next for the family.

Torres 26, was arrested on Saturday, May 17, 2025, Fox 32 Chicago reported. On May 19, the mother was in court, where she was charged with a felony count of aggravated battery of a child under the age of 13.

According to prosecutors, Torres woke up that Saturday morning and discovered that her 7-year-old son had made a mess. She had allegedly cleaned their home the night before. The mom began hitting the boy, which made him hide in a cabinet under the sink.

When she couldn’t get him to come out, she grabbed a kitchen knife. Torres allegedly began stabbing at the boy, only stopping when he screamed “ouch.”

After she realized the boy was bleeding, she took him to her mother’s apartment in the same building. The older woman demanded that Torres take the boy to the hospital. She took him to Evanston Hospital, but due to his wounds, including a ruptured diaphragm, he had to be airlifted to Lurie Children’s Hospital for emergency surgery.

As of Monday, Fox 32 Chicago reported that the boy was on a ventilator.

Prosecutors claim Torres told hospital receptionists that she stabbed her son. But police say she told them that she was “waving the knife around” in an attempt to find the boy under the sink. She said it was an accident.

CBS News reported that Llovana Torres has a history of abusive behavior, according to prosecutors. She punched her mother in the face in 2017, because she wouldn’t give her money. The same thing happened with her stepsister in 2019.

Torres was also investigated by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Service in 2023 and again earlier in 2025. DCFS didn’t offer any additional information. The woman is next scheduled to appear in court on June 13.
